A few things done today between shifts, the alternator arrived today, and the bootlid seal(the earlyer on to put on the lid)When I got back after work tonight I fettled with the seal, what a job, although it is easy it is kinda precision job to line-up the clamps with the holes in the lid, after about ten done I got the hang of it.
the beginning, the trick is to hear the clicking noise whemn pushing the clamp in the little holes so the clamp is locken and the seal is tight against the metal rim.

nearly there

done, clever design though, where the seal end meats the other end there is a 1" gap between the clamp holes, in the middle of that is the hole to push the numberplate wire through,so the wire through first and then re-position the seal ends toghether again and wont show the cut.

now I can put all the silver-ware on the lid and put it in it's final position. fingers crossed no surprises!!
Might put in the 70Amp alternator first and let him talk to the new battery,

the last few days I have been tinkering with the "power-leak", new alternator and battery, Speaking to Dan Dan the Caravan Man he gave me some advise how to trace the fault, in the end it was two things what was draining the power. 1) the head light flasher, poor contacts and 2)the old fuse box. the flasher switch needed a clean and adjusting the contacts, and the fuse box,all points bad enough coroded to replace the lot. Nice job......not. Patience required here and a clear head for sure, an ammeter and a volt meter, and chasing wires, while doing this cam accross a dodgy Line fuse for the interior light and the hazerd warning light, needed new cable and fuse. All done though but not worth a picture.

Here he is with some old wheel hubs on the 10", the refurbed 12" will finish those in July waiting for Simon's tyres.

after that I finished the door cards and today I put flashing tape (nicked Idea from Stevede) at the inside of the bulk-head between the top and bottum dash panel, flashing tape will not absorbe moisture, as the old felt-foam used to do, and stops it from rust build up-inside the car, where you can't see it.

note the old chair, will be gone soon bucket seat subframes mounting tomorrow

one more layer of tape, then hard rubber foam for backing.

Cheers Dave

today a few things done. first the subframes on the mini bucket seat's, easy enough to do, there are 4 holes under the fabric, need to locate those and make a pilot hole with a small sharp tool, put subframe on and line up with the marks you made and screw in the T50 torx screws. before tightening all 4 screws make sure the gliders are centered so the lock-brackets are both locking at the same time, amazin what 1mm can do.

Both done, now waiting for the cross-member mounting brackets to dry from the final coat of paint

And then the UPS van came with the new Grill Kit from M-Spares. I could not leave it in the box it had to go on,......
Checking the size first.....

Happy chappy, he has a smile at last

after a nice morning in the garden (lawn mowing) I thought I should do a few jobs from the to-do list,
attach Vinplate; this one supposed to be where the water bottle is mounted, so I put it next to it and is visible enough.

finish dash; well I started a few weeks ago putting layers of flashing tape inside the car between the upper and lower dash, Stevede gave me that idea, so today I cut to fit and glued foam rubber mat to the flashing this gives you an excellent sound proofing as the Carb is rather noisy on the other side of the bulk-head, it looks easy but patience is required. great result, when I find a nice piece of black matt vinil sheet I will attach that one to the rubber mat to give it a nice finish.

floor carpets; Black Newton, this one is ordered from M-spares and should have that on Monday, next week fitting.

so the list is getting smaller!!
fit bucket seats
number plates
test drive(again)
Insure,Mot Tax

The Newton Commercial carpet came today,
great quality stuff and good instructions to go with it, however, as Stevede has mentioned in the past the bulkhead liner and carpet in a pain in the b..side to fit, after that all should be easy, managed to do the bulkhead bits today as I run out of evo stick spray glue, Screwfix run tmrra.

under felt liner

carpet on bulk-head

Mind you it was a bit waarm today to fettle inside the car!!!
