Does someone want to report the listing to ebay and link this thread? I'm sure eBay would be interested to know that the shell doesn't belong with the registration.

I have reported it, and think everyone else on here should as well, only takes 2 minutes, and will hopefully help stamp out people ringing mini's.

Dave

For what? It is not illegal to sell the remains of a car or a logbook for memorbilia.

DVLA will have clocked it and when the new owner comes to register it they may get a nasty inspection letter!!!

It's a peculiar lump of Mini to cut out, might even be photoshopped. Would it stand up like that :P|

It's fundamentally dishonest, that's why it needs stamping out. You could argue it's the buyer's look out if they get caught ringing their own car, but it could be used for your Mini that's been stolen and needs a new identity.

It is the buyers lookout in my opinion.

You would only ever buy this for one reason. Tax exemption

If you want to ring a stolen car there must be thousands of id's around from when the mini was an everyday car i.e not hard to get hold of. If you wanted to avoid suspicion you would not use a tax free on a later car. IMO

If it is discusting and people want to report about it you could walk round the shows and end up with a list as long as your arm of cars to report!!

There is also an arguement that something like this may save a mini and keep it on the road after it became a victim of the scrapage scheme !!!!!!

Passing off a stolen car as tax exempt actually seems more appealing to my thinking. You can get a better price and the buyer is given a reason to overlook anomalies if they think they're benefiting from putting one over the DVLA. I doubt many Minis escaped from the Scrappage pounds, but if they did they'd have a legitimate market in motor sport or export.

£300 for a V5?! You could buy a taxed and tested Metro or Cinquecento for that! Plus you wouldn't have any problems with the police or need a IVA test.

91 I think was the start for just cooper SPIs but there were still some 1275 carb'd minis like the sprite
(we're such geeks)

I wonder if thse 1275 carb Minis from that year have a circular cut out or the old style opening in the inner wing?

I pride myself on being a geek!

the 1990 cooper still has the slats like earlier minis

So you'd rather have a bit of paper and some metal then an entire car that's road legal and won't get you in trouble with the law?

Just using those cars as examples of the sort of perfectly good cars you could buy for that sort of money.

My 1991 City E has the slats, should it not? Also it's a 998, I get the idea from this thread that they wernt in production in the 1990s... I know she's not a ringer though!

As for the v5 could you put the tax exempt identity on a new heritage shell?
