Wow - emotions running high here - did I say it was OK to buy a log book, nick a mini and ring it? - dont think so - what i said was I couldnt see the harm in doing it to your own mini as long as you dont defraud anyone else and when you come to sell it re Mot it with the original log book - yes its illegal to exempt your mini but thats your risk and it doesnt affect anyone else - its not exactly a hanging offence although some in glass houses might see it that way. Please dont tell me you think this is wrong but its OK to illegally download/copy music / films / games - thats called hypocrisy and double standards

I was refering to the comment from old_Skool_lews. Who mite as well go out and Rob minis himself !!!

I think its wrong to buy a shell (and now know where its from) but your mark on it and pass it on as your own.

Downloading "music / films / games " and ringing cars are to totally different things, and besides when did i say this was right?

Who are you trying to justify this to ?

thats not legal because it should be a J reg or near so that is acctually a private plate on a 1991 car so it should be white/yellow black ity goes with the year of registration not what the plate says so it is illegal as much as you say it isnt the police will say otherwise

Ok well taking this idea and using the correct year plate, this would be a way to do it

Yes you are right Strictly speaking it should have Yellow and White plates but the MOT Tester did not fail it on this..... OK he failed it on the welding thats needed but not the plates........ ;D

No high emotions here, it's just you trying to defend the undefensable, but you are still wrong.

As long as it is the government that you hurt it's fair game? What are you some sort of bad assed anarchist? If I failed to declare some income on my tax return too is that ok? It doesn't affect anyone else, does it???

Also, I wonder what the Insurance Company's position would be if, in the event of an accident, the car was proved to be a newer car passed off as a tax exempt one? Am I right that untaxed vehicles could have their insurance voided? That might be nasty.... ;D

Also what's the glass house comment mean? It could be taken as an accusation, which might raise my emotions... ;D

Well it seems that some illegal activities are apparently okay if it's a Mini.

I bet some of you wouldn't be saying it's fine if it was any other car.

Some of you are kidding yourself saying that you are above the law if you're saving a Mini from the scrapyard.

know quite a few ringged cars, not neccesarily mini's and theres reasons for them which arent about stealing stuff... of course im not going to go into it... id have no problem doing it tho if there was a reason to do it which wasnt malicious... tho of course if it was malicious i probably wouldnt care either, would i ;D

To Clarify, my Car is a 1991 City E, always was and always will be On the LOG BOOK, however, you can re-register the NUMBER PLATE of any car that is OLDER, you cannot make a car appear newer than it is but there is nothing to stop you putting an older plate on it. It is now registered as NNA 202G on the V5 docs, BUT it is Still listed as a 1991 City E. ;D

Cant be bothered to read the whole thread of people whining about riniging cars.

But yours is not the issue that is on debate, its about.......say me. using that log book on my 1990 car and making it look like/pretending its a car from 1972. Not having a private plate.

Less strict MOT and tax exemptness.

Sorry if thats been said already. ;D

thats the risk of buying a 2nd hand shell from ebay without an i.d attatched to it, if there wasnt a demand for 2nd hand shells, there would be alot more minis scrapped

So you agree in ringing cars then ?

He's also agree'd to accepting stolen goods.. i know where he lives! Lets get the police on him!

by all means get the police around to my house, they'll find all my cars are legit! i could then however, show them this forum, and dig out some threads where the minis have been rebuilt using 2nd hand shells, whilst retaining the logbook from the rotten shell, then see whos smiling :)

love the way most people asume the person buying a log book is going to steal a mini
may be he has a shed full of spares and would like to rebuild a mini
he could buy a new shell for all you lot know

i have an old mini log book that states " this vehical is built from parts all or some of witch are not new"
could ring any mini with that :)
