yeah the welders good its a clarke 150turbo just a shame that i am absolutely shocking at welding.

the roof is a curley one and was £410, its a lot of money but my roof was dented beyond repair so it was either a carbon roof or a webasto sunroof!

i have now paited one of my inner wings with por-15 paint this is really good stuff and seems to be really protective, i have also decied after seeing how good this stuff is that i am not going to use stonechip on the underside off the car, just por-15 over painted body colour!

i have also seam sealed the baulkhead area using por-15 seam sealer, this in contrast to the paint was rubbish and really hard to use, and i have know got black hands because this stuff really wont wash off!

here are some pictures of the recent work i have done on my car. the inner arches, lower baulkhead have all bee painted in por 15. the upper baulkhead has been rubbed back and all the welded up holes have been grinded back and filled. the damper mount has been welded up.

i have also found someone to spray the car if i can afford it, auto body care- they specialise in minis and spray alot of the flip minis that are at shows etc.

so to finish the front i need to prime the baulkhead and prep the inner wings(engine bay side) and prime them too. i also need to give the bits another coat in por 15.

i think i should have the subframes this week to so then i can start lining up the front end and welding that on, i have pm'ed someone on here about a set of doors and i hope to pick a boot, rear valence and inner sill at the london to brighton!

Auto body care might be the place i have my mini sprayed. But he is very expensive!

Last year he quoted me £2000 for a full prep and respray in pearl white. Just last week i went up there and he said i would be pushing £1800 for a respray and we had to do all the prep ourselfs, and that wasnt including VAT!

My uncle used to be a sprayer, he said he is very good but very expensive. Sure you pay for what you get, but £1800 for just a repspray!

Not sure if i can afford that kind of money but definately would go to him if i could.

Has he given you a quote for any work yet?

Josh

Looking good..

i gotta start thinking about where im gettin my paint job done..

If i prep the car myself it'll be cheaper.. also as we don't have to get the roof's painted.. that'll keep the cost down as its a big surface to get right.. joys of carbon.

lol dave didnt think of not having to have the roof sprayed!

auto body care is really good, i have talked to ian the owner quite a few time now and hes a really nice bloke. the paint jobs are as you all say very expensive but you definately get what you pay for. i was looking at some of his work the other day and it is really top notch.

i still havent heared anything about my wheels recently i am gonna give the guy a call tommorow, hopefully they will be nearly ready. if not i will try and get my deposit back and will go and get some force racing rims.

not had such a good time with the car lately.

i was promised a good condition subframe from an x reg cooper for £100. ideal i though until i want to pick it up. i was really disapointed to find a rusty old subframe which looked about 10 years old, and had a snaped lower gearbox stabiliser. still i thought i can weld a new one on and repaint it. then i measured it too find that it definatel is not from an x reg as it is a pre 91 frame with the engne mounted closer to the baulkhead, also it wasnt rusty it was starting to rot.

so i took it back and explained the situation only to be told that my subframe that i took with me to show was an automatic subframe, i think not!! so now i have no subframe and am down £100 while i wait for something to be done.

very diapointed >

and its raining so i cant do any work to the min

on the up side i spoke to MLMotorsport who say the wheels should only be a few more weeks. the centers are made and i just need to wait for the rims to be spun!

i also have loads more ideas that i will do to the car.

Thats a bugger with the subframe mate.. hate being let down like that!

What frame u looking for? one that mounts engine closer to the baulkhead or further forward?
I thought the ones that mount towards the front where for multi-point injections!

I picked up a rear frame for £40 off a mate.. its only 6 months old..

This guy has loads of mini parts, i could ask him if he has any decent front subframes?

yeah it is a later subframe with space for the injection. 1991 was when they changed over and i have the new style but i need to keep it because i have got the engine stabiliser for this type frame now!

yeah would be great if you could ask for me, i would be interested in a rear frame too if he has another one going cheap, oh and also a steering column if he has one with the key with it!

rain has stopped play for a while but i have been doing other stuff for the mini parts i brought at the l2b this weekend include:

mint condition boot lid £35
5 point 3" luke harness from a miglia £50
braided fuel pipe £5
Specialist components rose jointed engine steady £40
general rubbers, seals etc £20
rocket t bars £5

i also got 2 ultimate mini dvds which have give me more insperation and ideas, as mentioned above i got a harness that was used in gerard dales miglia, seeing his car was mad because its so much how i want my car to be.

here are some pictures of this evenings work, you can see the car is now on a frame which i welded up too!
