Why not look at the street fighter doors?
They are basically the same, but a bit stronger..

M-machine sell an aluminium doorskin in mk1 or 3 shape i believe. ally ones might not be quite as light, but they'd fit easier and you wouldnt get problems with gelcoat cracking.

Again, if your using this car more than just on the track Alu skinned doors aren't too great either, apparently the are very suseptible to car park dents, etc.

yeah ive heared that about the ally ones, apparently the skin can get a twist in it too if a door is slammed too hard.

i might go for the carbon skins then.

well ive just done the ball joints they were a bit fiddly but there all done now, and i am just about to get and fit the wheel bearing.

i just got off the phone to stainless auto components and have ordered up another load of stainless bolts for the subframes. dont want anything going rusty :proud:

i have ordered

king pin kit
handbrake clevis pin kit
shock absorber kit
brake drum screws
front subframe kit
rear subframe kit (cap head)
top arm nuts
bottom arm nuts

add this to the radius arm kit and handbrake quadrant kit and i think all my subframe bolts are stainless, apart from the ones for my anti roll bar, going to have to order them in seperatly.

feeling quite pleased with my self, finnished my drive shafts, all i need to do is get some lock wire to replace the rubbish metal clips that come with the cv joints and then torque the nut, will do this once its on the car thought.

pictures show the dics fitted to the drive flange (which has been faced off as you can see it through my wheels)

ball joint after i lapped it in

and verious pictures of the shafts and with brakes fitted (coming off for storage)

Loverly!! How long do you expect them to be in storage for?

And as many have said, those wheels are awesome and seems like you got them at a bargain price - since from MLMotorsport they have gone up by about £40-£50 each!!

cheers, not sure how long, deadline for the car is london to brighton next year, so it could be a while yet.

yeah wheels were good in the end, the price rise i think is to do with the change in design, seems like i got the new design for the price of the old because i waited so long.

Be very careful what you replace with stainless steel, apparently it has a lower strength under tensile load...

See this thread.

yesterday sailing in 36 mph wind thats over 40 mph up wind, we stretched 2 stainless steel bolts 5mm and bent them 45 degrees

stainless steel is not very strong :'(

ok when i say everything i dont mean absolutely everything, the calliper bolts and steering arms and things that need to be really strong havent been replaced.

stainless auto components also say that all their bolts are "of equal or higer strength than the standard bolts fitted to the mini, with exception of those fitted to seat belts and engine internals"

mini93 im going to be having the bootfloor made by the carbon weezle but i will be designing and making the mould for the floor and i havent got round to doing it yet. i have just cut a big hole so far. Ive got some good pictures of the wheels im going to put up in a min.
