yeah i sould get rid of that. that price list was about the k1100 conversion and i just got the prices straight off a website!.

i know its going to be expensive but the head is just over £1K as i bought a bare casting which still needs to be fully worked.

i work for an engineering company and we make all the sort of stuff like this so i will be able to make all the bits like trigger discs and any little brackets ect.

in short i only need to buy bits that cant be made, like the ecu and injectors.

Mowog,

I don't get on here much, especialy lately so i just saw this,

I am doing a 7 port turbo, here's a link to where i am at the moment with it,

http://www.turbomini...p...&tid=119064

at the mo i am having issues getting it to fit under the bonnet, as mine is going into a mk1 i want to keep the original bonnet, the prob is the fuel rail.

your only about 4-5 miles from me, your welcome to come and have a looksie, see if you can avoid the same issues.

also i got my bare casting worked by Stuart Gurr at Vmax Scart.

"Ok sorry for this, but I'd love some more info on this!

and MOWOG... 15mm!! Can u reveral how youmanaged to do that..."

Dog - check out the minisport and webcon websites
and you can achieve a lower drop on your mini but cutting down the suspension trumpet (if thats the right word) themselves, and on the rear alot of people cut down the alloy rod on the hilo kits.

Apologies for going off topic MOWOG

yeah, i think that's the best way, And I think it's pretty resonable money for the performance hike - with minimal buggering about. It's an all round, good soloution! (Did I sound like Bill Solis then?).

Swiftune were given some of the later head castings to look at, from AKM (who minisport bought out), but didn't want to develop the project for someone else. So they will know what's required to sort the bare castings out to a good spec.

Very nice work mini13!

However, it does illustrate why a weber alpha kit is beneficial, because it bolts straight onto that stub manifold in the casting. You can even use little sock filters on short intake trumpets and it'll still fit under a standard bonnet- Just.

there's blenty of room in front of the "ram pipes" enough to get a 3" tube on to enable the use of a single throttle body (remember this will be forced induction so ITB's will be of little benifit especially considering the extra linkage work) the issue is the fuel rail, the alpha kit uses side feed injectors so would get round this, but i want to be able to use the style of injector found on basicaly every production car.

At the moment i'm considering going away from a single piece straight fuel rail so i can move the injectors to the side to give more clearance, this may also give a better "shot" for the fuel injector.

at the moment my fuel injection system has cost...

intake manifold £50
4x injectors £12
throttle Body £18
Fuel Rail £30 (extruded billet from Ross Machine racing)
Fuel Reg & pressue Gauge £50
ECU & sensors £250

how much is alpha kit?? :D

right first off is to say i am no longer going to be getting a 7 port.

its partly to do with money, and also other stuff.

im now taking a more conventional 5 port route.

mini13 i had been watching your project when i was thinking of doing the 7 port, i would still like to take you up on your offer and see your project as it looks awsome.

and i totally agree with doing everything yourself rather than just buying off the shelf stuff, its so much smarter. i was planning to machine my own throttle bodies too for mine!

dog these were the front hi los and as said i just cut them down even more, this is only a guess as it was bottomed out on the adjusters before, however it was sitting on the bump stops as i found out when i stripped the car. so i know have lowered bumper stops. oh yeah and i machined 5mm from the trumpet so going on the 3:1 lowering ratio thats how i came up with 15mm.

well im getting somewhere with the shell now

all stonechip is removed
welds are ground back
baulkhead cut for box
boot floor is on its way

i now only need to gring of the old sills and its go go go, so this week i shall book it into the sandblasters for the end of the month once i have been payed, so this gives me untill then to sort out the sills, wire brush the underside and cut the boot floor so the carbon one fits!

ive got my hands on a new altenator now which i am going to take to bits and polish.

my mate is going to make me a baulkhead box aswell.

engine wise im going to be getting a very nice head done for me and im going to be using a weber, swiftune are also going to swap my sw5 for an sw10, ive been told i should get 120bhp with my new spec. which is going to be cheaper and im almost garranteed that power rather than a guess with the 7 port.

here are some pictures then

na i phoned up swiftune to see what he recommended to do with it and he said he wouldnt use one on a road engine because they lack tourque and all the power is very high up the rev range.

plus it was going to work out at about £2k to get the top end all done, and id need an mega spec box and diff set up. muchos money for un garanteed power.

what spec turbo you going for then?

Still not completely set on the spec, but looking about 10-15psi boost T3 turbo (fully worked to smoothen it out and make it spin better) erm 1310cc engine and anything else to give me 150-170bhp!

Talked it over with a good friend of mine, I'm probably going to hit £4000...

Why don't you look into the 16v Enignes! Masses of power there? ;D

not really bother with that amount of power for now. good solid reliable 120bhp 5 porter will do the job just fine. after all the fastest car ive owned was this one and it only had a stage 1 and not much compression in one cylinder and it did the job. (at about 50 bhp)

im probably going to do it properly and get a KAD unit in a few years time or just start again and do a z cars kit. (not for a long while yet)

Aye go for it :-

I've always wanted to do a turbo, but for now the motor is going to be a std stg1 1275, just to get me going again :w00t:

I've set myself a target of 150, but after chatting with a few turbo people, and a 400bhp Porche owner ;D I could see more, if I build it correctly!

yeah the bloke thats building my motor with me used to run a 170 bhp metro turbo back in the day and he is always suggesting a turbo to me, but ive made my mind up now and im using a good spec head and a phat old weber!

i konw what you mean about just etting it on the road for now. thats another reason for not getting the 7 porter.
