by the way - My head lights (non standard) have only hi & lo beams... no side lights. Is that acceptable for MoT?

I believe you need sidelights for the MOT. Is there provision for sidelights in the non standard lenses? If so you might be able to sort it.

The 1978 standard lenses had a small bulb that sat behind the glass sealed unit (built into the plastic push-on connector)... somebody has put units in with only hi and lo beam and no opening for a side light.

Light switch is Off/Side/Headlight - dipped on stalk...

Welding is 50mm patch just in front of rear subframe mount

No glass window where a sidelight would shine through? Some don't have a place the light would plug into but just have a window the light shines through.

Not a lot of welding then. Don't tell me you weld as well as lateral think?

Good for you lol. Give us a shout if you need a hand. I've a load of welding to do on the Midget so i'll have got my hand back in soon.

You'd better wear better ppe than that pic though....welding splatter burns to buggery.
