As for the insensitivity, like has been said, it was for tv, it's not real! Do you think they just failed to deliver all those meals? And I am also sure the production team would have paid for any food they did use! Clarkson might be an oaf, but James May isn't and would not have been that stupid, let alone the production team.

Brilliant do you think we are concerned that the food didn't get delivered to its intended recipients? And hundreds of workers went without their lunch! Of course it was staged! The insensitivity is that they clearly wasted food in a country where many go without. This was also watched by hundreds of bystanders, who themselves while maybe not hungry, have some respect to the value of food.

Get a life mate, food gets wasted everywhere, I am fed up with ******* going on about how others should feel or behave as if they are on a higher moral plain and need to advertise that fact.

A slightly unnecessary personal attack.

At least it went off in style instead of just ending up at copart for scrap, dosen't take much to write a mini off these day's.
Maybe someone here can shed some light on this mini, previous owner here somewhere?

I thought Hammond already had a Mini though? He said at the start that this was his first, but I'm sure I've read somewhere (probably a link to the TG website from here?) that he already owns one. I think it was in an article about best cars ever made or something of that sort.

he said his girl friend had a mini that he used to drive (changed the engine one weekend after blowing it up and didn't tell the girl friend)

how many projects are in the project section for wives, girl friends, daughters that seemed to be more owned by a male family member

The BBC aired an entertainment program called 'Top Gear'

Some people enjoyed it, some did not - after all it is difficult to please every single viewer.

THREAD OVER.

Its nice to read peoples varied views on this T/G episode, but it did make me laugh when that staged front end came off with hamsters face looking at the rolls in the same shot was class.

i havent read the 8 pages of this topic but i watch top gear and everything is set up, and everything they use in these adventures they always murder the car.

they way i look at it is if someone buys a mini its up to them what they do with it

i wouldve preferred Hammond to slate the mini, that way people who want one without paying for one would be put off.

people really do hang on every word the top gear guys say about cars, so minis will now be in a lot of peoples consciousness.

i want people to think my minis cr@p that way they'll leave it alone.

What he said,

There are more good minis cut up on this forum by people not knowing what they are doing and bodged back together with fibre glass front ends, than what was on tv last night.

get over it.

(this is not aimed at anyone)

I myself didn't like to see the mini getting beaten up, but what made it bearable was knowing it was scrapped anyway. They didn't take the P*** out of it and actually gave it a good send off.

It would be a whole different story if it was maybe someones pride and joy they had sold on.

Im just astonished that A) the jag and the rolls kept going no problems other than what they did to them themselves and B) The mini had no breakdowns or issues at all....i thought it may have struggled with the heat in the cities and also the rougher roads towards the end might have upset a radius arm or something..... as people have already commented good advert for classic mini's really. (comments the scamp owner)

Just watched it tonight, had some chuckles too. The mini was like mine so if the awareness and positive comments add to its value then I'm ok with whatever they did with theirs

Enjoyed the programme - entertainment not eastenderjunglexfactordancing rubbish. Just my two penneth

Blog : Top Gear, thanks but no thanks:
What a shame. ‘What an absolute crying bloody shame, and a missed opportunity’. It’s all I could think after sitting through 90 minutes of prime-time car-based television adventuring thanks to the ‘boys’, and their increasingly immature, pointless old car antics. For those who didn’t watch (and I suggest you do while it’s still freely available on BBC’s excellent iPlayer service), the Top Gear trio ventured to India, for some old school car capers – just the sort of thing that we love to do here.
But whereas previous specials were inspired, brilliant edge of the seat entertainment combining humour and drama perfectly, this one seemed tired, uninspired and, well just plain, unoriginal. ‘Jezza’, ‘Captain Slow’ and ‘The Hamster’ (perfect nicknames for a trio tying to pass themselves off as superannuated public schoolboy mischiefs) know how to craft some of the best television known to mankind – but equally, when they get it wrong, it can be truly cringeworthy. And this year’s effort – in the main – was just that. As I said, a bloody shame.

I dont mind the larking and staging...just didnt find this one funny

Saw the banner/sign thing coming a mile off, saw the front end of the mini coming off from 200yrds, and the stupid lawnmower/ coronation chicken on a digestive/ trouser press your naan stuff was just predictable

But yeah good for the mini profile if ya selling :proud:

(that blog mab01uk just put up while I was typing is spot on)
