Yeah i have plans als for in the distant future when im 24 as then i'l be liable for classic insurance :D .

classic insurance + 850cc + tax exemption = much much more mini funds :D

Didn't realise you had to be 24 for classic insurance :/

And true :P main reason for the 850 though it's standard, but if I practicaly can't speed and get a ticket and lose my license through it in the first 2 years

Not sure how many mini ones we found, found quite a few for an MG, no end of them for an A60

Not a lot to update you all with, just shiny bits and windows.
Not been able to do much, been seriously cold and there's a mini van being painted in the paint shop next door so we couldn't let it get cold in there.
Also lost out on a steering wheel on eBay, I bid 21.05 and it went for 22.05, or something like that, but that means I have a bit more to spend on the Chrome window pieces, also got given the chrome side strip for free and some light surrounds for free (that aren't cheap knock offs where the chrome will pit in 3 months, woo! :D anyway I'll let the (bad) pictures do some talking

Was recording a MotoVlog and decided to call in and do a walk around video for some friends, these are still's from the video so.. technically, they are the best "photo's" I've taken so far :P

Almost 2 months later, I better update this thread.

So, for the last 2 months I have done.... Nothing.
Yup. Nada

With the weather being cold motivation was fairly low :P But recently we traveled up Attleborough and bought a few bits from DSN
Headlight bowls, we got some lucas lights from Newark Auto Jumble
Chrome window strips
Wiring for the lights
A wiring loom ordered from somewhere else
Parcel Shelf
and a bit more, DSN bill totaled around £115

And more recently I managed to buy a brand new galaxy tab cheap so I can take some great photo's. So I took a few today :P On another note, I'm skint. However we've cleared a space to start work on the engine

Started to do a little on the engine this afternoon, extremely surprised with it! Cut the rad pipe of and blue antifreeze poured out, and it turned over by hand! Free as a bird, still some oil in it, no rust in the bores at all. It was getting dark and my tablet was running flat so not many pictures, need to revert back to the old camera as a tablet isn't a good idea with greasy hands

2 pictures I took of the engine ages ago

Smallish update, not much as i've been helping welding a transit van, I've switched back to my old camera as greasy hands on a tablet is not a very good idea, but none of the pictures seem to be blury (yet)

Started off by removing the studs from the head:

Posted Image
Posted Image

Spark plugs didn't look too bad to be fair

Posted Image

While dad was welding I couldn't seem to get this stud off as it was mashed, was expecting him to drill it out but nope, welded a random nut on it and undone the nut

Posted Image

Next up springs

Posted Image

Dad pulled out these pins. I do love a Fray Bentos

Posted Image

Then used a bit of pre-historic kit to show me how to compress them and let me do the rest

Posted Image

All out

Posted Image

Removed a few other bits, thermostat, retainers and such

Posted Image
Posted Image

Then I scraped a few of the left over fibre gaskets and 32 years worth of gunk

Posted Image
Posted Image

Then started to wash it down.. Milk with your tea anybody?

Well, after going to the dentist today I decided to skive of college, while riding around getting bits and bobs I followed a K reg mini on my ped, got straight to work on it.

The heads pretty much done for now, when I get some cash I'm sending it off to be fitted with unleaded seats

I believe this is a thermostat housing?

Not clean but not dirty, I'll do a bit more to it but it's such an awkward shape to clean

Although i am glad it's finally coming together, such a great feeling, can't wait to fire it up

32 Year old zombie :P
I'm rather amazed that after 32 years it hadn't siezed, there was no rust or anything in the bores and the anti freeze was still good ish
