That better not be the case!
I'm afraid that pretty much is the case guys! Sorry to say that I lost a bit of motivation with the Mini, so decided to have a play with something different (BX) for a while - but the old girl shall NEVER be forgotten. I still have every intention of re-building the 1275 I bought and dropping that in, plus fixing a few more bits of bodywork that need doing. However, I don't really have the money for the engine stuff at the moment and I'm heading back to Uni soon so shall be leaving the Mini behind for winter. The Mini will be staying put in the garage, probably until next summer or beyond I'm afraid. It will be back one day though... and almost certainly with at least double the power it had when I took it off the road

Just had a read through this build or rolling build and all credit to you mate remind me of what i was like when i was 18 and had my little racing green le, it was was most weekend doing all those jobs just to make it that bit better to drive to work on the monday morning. You should be proud to keep this on the road with all the work you have put into it yourself mate. Top work like some people have said throughout this thread it doesnt have to be a concourse car to work and look cool i would have something like this over a concourse car any day.... :) nice one

Thank you very much chaps, glad you enjoyed it! Surprised to see this thread pop up again after so long! No more updates though I'm afraid, just about to finish uni now and the car is still sitting untouched in the garage at home, being used as a big storage table for now.
Are you getting it back on the road this year??
Probably not mate, I really want to rebuild the 1275 I bought for it first and do a fair bit of welding to the car. The welding I might do this summer as I'll probably have a lot of time and I already have a few of the panels I need, but the engine will have to wait until I have money, which I will only have when I get a job, and attempts at getting one of those haven't been successful as of yet.
P.S. Mr Steely, any chance you could post up a few of the photos you took of the car in the couple of months after I took those few on the last page? I know there were a couple of shows we went to and I absolutely loved the photos you took (there was at least the Oldbury Minispares meet and maybe a BMC meet at The Lock in Kidderminster I think?).
