Not a lot to report really.. we now have:

A sore nipple,

Dash removed,

Old spot welds where the wing was held on dressed and primered,

A bit more of the front end cut off..

Next to do:

Jack her up onto axle stands, remove top damper mount, cut out rot and weld in new patch. :)

Feeling more confident about her now.

Oh and a few bits will be up for sale soon :)

I would strip the whole inner wing as I repaired the two shock mounts only to find the rest of the inner wing was shot and ended up replacing the whole thing. Also strip the whole thing down. Get the engine and subbies off and interior out it will make your life 100% easier as you will see all the rot then

Problem is where to put all the stuff..

Im going to sell the engine and i think i could squeeze an interior into my shed.. its the subframes i wont have space for! then again i could sell them too as im just going to be replacing them anyway..

Hmm.. thoughts!

Basically modify an existing subframe - Had a long discussion about this last night and think we know how its going to be built, almost like a cage containing the engine with removable brace bars.

The first job is to get the engine in and running.. then im looking at manifolds and bike carbs.

The speedo cables are pretty much the same so im told, so that should be easy, will have to make a new dash bit though so i know what speed im going!

I may aswell do a good service on the micra engine whilst its out too.

First job is to fix all of Nellys holes. Also had a lovely chat with james last night about body work and how to start.. So first repair is going to be the outer sill, then work my way up. So the plan has changed! hmmm :)

Brace bars and more stripping next!

Ok so all the welding gear has turned up now after being fobbed off by companys not willing to help me!

next plan is to sell the engine, strip the subframe etc at the front and make a start! once the engine is gone i will strip more of the interior, remove the loom and take out the front windscreen.

Apologies for the lack of updates!

Jack also made an emergency draining hole in the boot after the huge floods!

plans plans! Still looking for an outside source to build me a micra subframe and then il be happy :)

topic name change i think soon..

Might be a struggle finding someone to build you a Micra subframe, I don't know of any companies (Watsons / Allspeed) that make them up currently although you could look into the bare model frame and adapt it to suit but realistically the conversion is such that the modification to the mini subframe is fairly minor comparatively.

Any engineering company could make you one fairly easily but would need the engine to work around of course.

Good luck with the restoration in the meantime!

will crack out the welder today for some practice..

Engine is being viewed on Saturday morning so i may aswell make a start on stripping the rest of the car,

Will take pics as i go :) Problem is as i have no garage everything has to be done in sequence, I cant do anything else until the engine is gone.. then the windscreen, then onwards!

Oh and minispares will soon be earning a fair wage from me lol.. might drive up there soon instead of ordering

Jack also made an emergency draining hole in the boot after the huge floods!

It took many hour of heavy deep thought and planning to find a solution to the difficult and complex problem i was faced.

I spent many seconds walking the staggering distance of about 2 meters to my car, then using all my strength i opened my car door and reached down to get my rare specialist tool for the job.

After what seemed like an eternity i finally made the walk back to the boot of Nikis car.

Now exhausted from the journey i emptied the many items from the boot which included...

A brace bar

A broken foot pump

Jump leads

Subwoofer

and a high vis vest.

After spending many many miliseconds removing the many items from the lake of water i lept in, hand first to try and find a way to drain the water.

Moving around the mirky depths of the water i finally come across a solution to the problem. A metal grommet with sealant around it (You know the standard metal mini type things)

Pulling out my Specialist tool (Weheyyyy) i plunged into the water digging out the sealant and levering at the grommet.

The water then streamed out the boot like Niagara falls (Just abit smaller and nothing like Niagara falls)

The problem was then solved and the boot could continue to hold the extensive list of items, water free.

The End

You're so silly :)

Ok so again not alot to report.. its too hot to try welding :( BUT, i did make another start on the floor.. Where the oversill was welded on it has made the bitumen bubble up and start to rust underneath it.

Removed quite a bit of the bitumen, stripped the car out more and discovered the passenger bins aren't toooooo bad..

Ghetto seat holder upper :) You can just make out where the floor has rotted from underneath!

Ok so motivation is a real issue here.. I have none.

Something ive always struggled with!

I thought as it was too cold i would just set out my tool box with what i need..

DSCF5274.jpg

This is the stuff i thought would be useful to get to L2B (Hence alot of tape and zip ties!)

This is my "pull the car apart" tool setup.

Plus some spanners and sockets that i later added. I cant carry heavy things so all the extra bits like underseal / paints / grinder / dremel are in the shed waiting to be used when needed
