Are you meant to have a cream binnacle for the speedo? I've got one ill be selling if you wanted to change over.

Cant say for sure if you're meant to have it this colour, but this is the one I have cleaned up for my Van.

Right got a few pics for you of what i have been up to on the van! It was all going well untill the welder gave up AGAIN. Got the door step/ rear quarter tacked in first

Then the crossmember got some attention

Pic of my welder in bits and my dads old welder i was using for a bit but it just blows holes

Panels i bought at Bingley. Genuine full scuttle and the mk1 radiator shroud panel

Starting to look a bit more solid now! just little bits to finish off then it will be just the front end left to do! plus the doors and bonnet !

Front end will be the last thing for me to do... I priced the panels up the other day and wished I hadn't!!!!!!

Yeh I have priced it up before but I will not be using a genuine front panel just genuine wings And A panels as I have a Austin cooper s grill to go on. So yes I have a saloon with a van grill and will have a van with a saloon grill! People will think in insane! Lol

The Van front panel seems extremely expensive, I am extremely fortunate to have been able to re-use my original, especially as the remakes aren't the same.


The genuine wings are pretty dodgy - they took some serious manipulation to fit properly and that is amazing considering they are 'apparently' from the original tooling.

Oh dear well I have fitted 3 sets of non- gen wings and all of them didn't want to line up perfectly I just thought gen ones were better! They must be better around the inner wing? I find no gen ones dont curve correctly on the front edge.

Won a rear door on eBay yesterday so will be picking that up tomorrow! Also done some lining up and cutting today for the toeboard repair panel and the p/s sill ! dads fixing the welder later so I can hopefully Finnish all the welding on the bottom ready for front end!

You are doing a great job mate.
I can see the end in sight with my van resto, its been a big job but was part done when I bought it. Hope they get to meet as Im also in south west. Keep going!

Also some good news! The old mans fixed my welder! So tomorrow afternoon I'm going to get right on it!
