Front end will be the last thing for me to do... I priced the panels up the other day and wished I hadn't!!!!!!

The Van front panel seems extremely expensive, I am extremely fortunate to have been able to re-use my original, especially as the remakes aren't the same.

The genuine wings are pretty dodgy - they took some serious manipulation to fit properly and that is amazing considering they are 'apparently' from the original tooling.

Oh dear well I have fitted 3 sets of non- gen wings and all of them didn't want to line up perfectly I just thought gen ones were better! They must be better around the inner wing? I find no gen ones dont curve correctly on the front edge.

Won a rear door on eBay yesterday so will be picking that up tomorrow! Also done some lining up and cutting today for the toeboard repair panel and the p/s sill ! dads fixing the welder later so I can hopefully Finnish all the welding on the bottom ready for front end!

Interesting stuff about gen and non gen that. I don't have much of the inner wing left as I'm going removable front end, so will this make much difference to the fit for me do you think?

If i can get away with non gen wings that would bring the price down somewhat.

Sorry for the thread jacking Ryan.

Some of the problem in the non gen wings are the folded edges that follow the scuttle around so yes that might not look as good as if you used genuine ones :/
Just picked up the new rear door will get pics up
Soon! :)

Big update for you lot! :D
So first thing today i went and picked up my new d/s rear door ! Been sat in brown paper in someones shed for 20+ years very happy with it saves me alot of work! Plus my old man fixed the welder!
Posted Image
Stripped it down and realised why it was in such good condition! it has been zimbarted !
Posted Image
Took the glass out to find shiny paint :D
Posted Image
After this i cut the toeboard repair panel and welded it in
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
I then finished welding the door step to the inner sill wire brushed inside and re painted the burnt areas inside with zinc 182. Then i could clamp the sill in place
Posted Image
Welded 1 then missed one to avoid distortion untill i had done them all
Posted Image
Posted Image
Fully welded in
Posted Image
Posted Image
Also rubbed down and primered the clock housing
Posted Image
Sunday afternoon i will be doing all the grinding and last little bits of welding to get the floor to the 'done' stage!

Then i used 500 to rub the primer on the clock housing down. i think im going to re-primer this using my spray gun insted of a rattle can as i want it to be a better finish! ( it isnt that bad now!)
