Yeah, about that... You're fairly local, right? :D

The W6 is in my sights, will need to remake the enclosure a bit (mostly reenforcing I think) but should still fit in the side of boot.

Currently have 5.25"s in the front so new pods are needed as well, but the old ones aimed slightly wrong so I wasn't overly happy with them.

As for setting up, I may cheat and get the 80prs then it can do it for me and I only have to tape a microphone to my head.

Yeah, everything I've read says that nothing can touch it for the price.

I'd really like a flip screen with built in sat nav, but the pioneers go for £600+ which is a tad out of my price range and there's no way I'm putting a cheap ass HU on the front of this set up, Ruckus may kill me

Ruckus will only kill you and eat your first born child if you use 6X9's, apart from that he's a ******* cat and a very smart one to. He helped me with my system.

found a normal word you can't use

Right then!

Just a HU, a length of wire and a couple of fuses to go. So much for a gradual gathering phase! I'll spend more time on the build, promise.

Here's where I'm at:

Psub (at a more than healthy 564w) running a 10w6v2-D4, fed by 12awg
P4 (at a ridiculous 185w) running Audiofile A16's fed by 16awg
Big 3 made of 0 gauge
Amp power lead 4awg off the battery to 2 x 8awg to the amps

May need a little more solder to get the terminals on the 0 gauge too...

How am I doing?

Oh, on top of the fuse question.

Based on your worldly knowledge, am I worthwhile getting a better battery? The alternator is a 70amp model (car was once an SPi) but the battery is stock.
Gordon seemed to think the twin Gennys wouldn't pull anywhere near enough to need a bigger amp.

Although a amp may be fused at 100A (random figure), in practice (i.e. listening to music not test tones at full chat) you're unlikely to draw anything like that much. Try it and see, you'll soon find out of you need more power. Remember it's ultimately the alternator that makes the power, the battery just stores it to make up for a short term shortage. I believe an landrover alt will fit in place of the standard affair if you find you need an upgrade. For now, I'd say try it and see but I'm sure it'll be fine.

Land rover only bolts straight into the MPi, from reading other threads.

The Gennys together only come to 50amp max draw (Go class G) so I'm not so concerned about the alternator unless I have a sudden need to play max volume test tones while driving at night :P

Any ideas on the fuse ratings for the dizzy block?

This is reasonably accurate

Do you have a fused dizzy block?

I've used the12v and http://www.bcae1.com/ to work out the wiring needs.

12 awg to the sub gives 0.04db loss.
16 awg to the comps gives 0.15db loss.

Using 4awg from battery to dizzy and 8awg from dizzy to amps results in a 0.2v loss which isn't markedly improved by changing the gauge even up to 0awg.

The P4 draws a max 20amp rated 25amp fuse, the Psub 30amp with 2x30amp fuses.

Working from the12volt basing the fuse on the wiring used, I should have 2 x 100amp fuses in the dizzy block.

Is this correct?

always recommend a bigger battery...its not about having just enough power available, its all about having a healthy system that isnt struggling and maxing out to give you a normal session of music

even if you have to relocate your battery, id recommend a bigger one! or at least consider biggest battery possible in the tray

Recommendations on batteries? Preferably not the 8051-187 you're using @ £220! :P
