A line of 4 & 8 off a terminal block with inline fuses seems to make more sense and less wiring.

Now to find a battery that's a good upgrade without costing over £200!

But I'm not planning on using the stereo for any length of time without the car running, no.
If I have a go at a competition and enjoy it, that's a different matter

Cheers for the help.

Don't go there - soon you'll think a £500 set of speakers are cheap!

Go to this eBay item.
Offer £145.
They will accept.
It will be with you by the weekend.
WIN!
If you don't drive your car everyday I would strongly recommend that you get a CTek mx5 charger as well.
In fact even if you do drive it every day it won't condition the battery like the CTek will.
Using the CTek I can get my DC900's to float at a 0.1 under 13volts....get one.

That said I don't appear to have any drain on the current bog standard battery so as long as I'm not playing long periods without running the car I should be okay, yes?
On the battery front, what is the advantage of the one you linked over say, the Pug 306/307 battery people often use in the Mini?
The CCA is higher, but the AH slightly lower which I'm guessing is the relevent part for using it as a power source?
I'd like to understand better the stats that makes it preferable, teach me wise one

You run a normal battery down 4 or 5 times it will be useless. DC's can be used down to 10volts again and again without problem. And even at 10v they will have enough ampage to start your car.
Also
AGM and Gel batteries have a very low internal resistance so they can charge very quickly and discharge quickly as well. Lead acid batteries are slow in and out, not what a bigger audio system wants. It wants power when it wants it and quickly.
They also float at a higher voltage 13 ish not 12.2ish.

This is currently how I have mine when I run both exide's.
I was going to run with the main battery and two 6 volt units in the bottom of each rear bin. But I have an Xbox mounted in one now, so I couldn't do that. But worth a thought.
You can see the optima yellow 6v here:

It's basically just half a 12v unit
