So by all means try it, saves money on buying dollies aswell if you dont have or need them for much, fabricating loads of panels mean the Hammer and dolly is the place to go for me but like I said, I thought id try something different for a change.

Hammers and dollies i have mate being a panel beater!  :D

Just thought it was a good idea to use the wood to get the shape. Something to follow to make sure the curve is correct.

Ben

Hi guys and gals,

Just made some healboard re-enforcment brackets today, although after doing so and welding them both to the inner sills and realised I've been a complete tool and welded them both and the same ends!!!

So I now have 2 RH inner sills.. >_< .....great :mmkay:  more work to undo and re-do....

Hello again peeps,

After walking  back home from an interview in town I managed to get a good few hours in on Checkmate.

The RH inner wing is now fullly painted and built up ready to rock and roll and sexy new wing, i've puched out all the holes in both front wings ready for plug welding.

Laastly i've been clening up the Wiring loom, re-taping and cleaning wires with baby wipes so I can ID them easier.

Pictures...

Also i've bought all of the paint to do the whole mini today so thats another big buy off of the list :)

Had some reaction on teh bulkhead with the primer so going to have to take that back down to bare metal there.

Yeah i'm hoping it'll turn out alright Ben, i'm by no means the most experienced painter, but i'l be giving it ago on Checkmate :).

If nothing else it's a bit more corrosion protection Haha, most of the bulkhead is covered with cables and the rather large Servo bracket anyway so you wont be able to see most of my crappy paint job of it comes out really bad  .

Also going to get the Servo out of the loft and clean and paint that at the same time, thats two more things done :)

Cheers,

Cliff

Well I got the clutch master cylinder and servo all masked up and srayed them in Zinc, they do look quite good mocked up in a black engine bay I must say, i'm pondering just leaving them as is to be honest, any reasons you guys can thing why not ?

Also plumed in the wiring loom and a few earthing points and also the heater matrix and rad hoses with one new hose clamp as it was beyond repair.

Right-Po folk,  today I fitted quite a few little bits and bobs, in fact I did so much stuff you'll have to forgive me if I forget to mention it, but it'l be in the photos.

Tackled the job of cleaning up the slave cylinder bracket and pressure limiter valve:

DSCF4382_zpsa0eb3a48.jpg

DSCF4383_zps35ef2db1.jpg

Got the battery cable wired in perminently:

DSCF4386_zps1079f65d.jpg

DSCF4387_zps9fccf1f7.jpg

Starter wired up and painted ofcourse:

DSCF4380_zps836ebb8a.jpg

DSCF4381_zps57eb6369.jpg

Wiper motor in and pluged in aswell:

DSCF4379_zps459f296f.jpg

Cleaned up a blanking plate and had to make a rubber gasket out of an old thin rubber matting:

DSCF4384_zpsbc4443a3.jpg

And then we move into DARKNESS!!!!!.......

Heater and binnacle mocked in for figuring out what goes were and what needs a home finding:

DSCF4388_zps5ce0a3f8.jpg

Red and black wire, it goes to a red light in the binnacle facia so i'm thinking alarm ?

DSCF4394_zps7c17b5ae.jpg

Heater, green to the on side of th switch (Left), and green and brown wire to the off spade connector (Right) I think this is right but i'l be double checking:

DSCF4393_zpsff95992b.jpg

Wires that connect to rear loom:

DSCF4392_zpsd8ef151c.jpg

Rear loom:

DSCF4390_zps6748aa99.jpg

Also re-routed the Nearside side repeator and Dim/Dip resistor wiring through the inside and then back out to keep the engine bay abit neater:

DSCF4389_zps4fa42e34.jpg

I fitted the carb aswell and re-bolted the exhaust up and the braket which bolts to the diff housing.

Got a coil out of the loft so thats going to be fitted soon enough aswell, might even start Checkmate up soon!! :)

Cheers,

Cliff

Well quite abit to be honet Ben, but things I should be able to rattle off in sections quite quickly.

I've got the weld the other wing on and adjust the wing i've put on as i'm not happy with the scuttle join.

Find some nuts for the bonnet hinges.

Paint the engine.

Trim the healboard and weld in the repair panel (still need to get bolts first though)

Then  fit the various panels i've made which wont take long atall

Repeat that on the other side

Doors need a full reskin and bottom repairs

And then the rear valence, bootfloor rear section and lower hinge panel need seeing to.

After that I need to source a carpet and paint the outside and its done ready to put up for sale.

A little more done on the wiring front of things and engine bay parts sorted out recently, although i've been figuring out the wiring for the part 2-3 days now so thought i'd have a break on that and get the sill progressed on abit more.

Next job on the body will be to seem weld the healboard repair piece in as the picture shows were, and also buy a doorstep and front floor pan and weld those in.

Cheers,

Cliff
