I use Facebook but I think the forum page is useless when we have the main forum to use, which you can search old threads so the same questions don't pop up all the time, hoer even on here some people cant use the search tool

I didn't even know there was a mini forum on facebook.
I only use facebook as a casual stalking device because i hate social media, it just brings so much ugliness into peoples lives.
Get rid of it. if people are bypassing the rules, and it's becoming too difficult to control then shut it down. I just hope that if anyone comes from the facebook group to here they don't bring their facebook mentality with them.

I do not use facebook.
Why do forums and clubs with forums have a facebook page, surely it's only repeating what you already pay for and doubles the amount of work for moderators. I have seen some forums and clubs dwindle to nothing because they started a facebook page. If you've got to use facebook then just use it for posting pictures of you cat (dog) and telling everyone what you had for breakfast, fo all your Mini stuff use TMF (or one of the other forums).
Facebook is ...

Close it - two forums are not needed - don't split the community between FBers and people who like a proper website. I totally agree with Surfblue 63, duplication is wasteful.
We were at the Gaydon Club Expo on Saturday and there was a talk by a couple of young chaps about how they had set up a 'young persons group' of the Morris Minor Club that was based on Facebook and Twitter. How I wish I had stood up and said Why are you splitting young and old club members!! In fact somebody did say they would only create another group to re-invent the wheel over problems that were being asked on the main forum and answered by experienced people. They went quite at that.

This is just a thought, but couldn't you just change the name of the group to completely disassociate it with TMF? Keep on the admins that are willing, and bring on more that are also willing.
It can get bad sometimes and the technical questions are useless as they're not saved, but it's nice to scroll down your newsfeed and have a break from other stuff on Facebook. I know quite a few regulars on there too and it is actually quite a nice community that is less formal than a forum.

As I've said before, through my Cowley work I'm involved with many BLARG groups and for me (and my Cowley Convoy colleagues for Cowley Convoy work), Facebook is great as you can very quickly spread and share information about events. We'd struggle to get the information to all the clubs if we needed to use each and every forum.
Although I do have contact with the Oxon & Bucks Morris Minor branch, through Facebook it is easier for me to keep in touch with Young Minors as I find their use of Facebook makes them more accessible. Facebook doesn't work for every club, everyone or in every situation, but it certainly does a grand job for many of us.

In my mind, that's highlighted the split between the forum and the group. Reading the comments in here, versus the comments on there and the majority opinions differ vastly.

There are loads of people on Facebook saying that they're in favour of keeping the Facebook page, but we've no way of knowing who they are on here. I imagine a lot if them aren't members on here, but I have no way of knowing that.

I agree, there are loads of people on the Facebook group that aren't on the forum and vice versa, that's why I suggested the name change.
Perhaps a poll could be setup on here like the one on the group to compare results?

Why?

Are the facebook users aware of this thread? Just a thought. If they see how things are here they might not mind the facebook page closing.
As for above - what i understand from this, it's not about the feed being lost so they can be found again, i think its more about a divide in community, and the facebook page being too difficult to moderate.
This seems to be why its being shut down, no other reasons i can tell really. I'd say they are very valid points, but then again i'm bias to the forum, as this is where i come for my 'mini fix'

Wheres the 100's of voices on the FB page voicing stay stay ?? quite clearly not many of them are actual forum members or contributors to the knowledge base of this forum . originally i wasn't in favor as i quite enjoyed having a scroll when on facebook but i do agree with everything being said and quite clearly is the best decision for TMF .

In my opinion (nothing to do with being a mod) it should go, i left the group ages ago as i found it to be annoying and full of arguments most the time and think it takes away from the forum.
