And actually, my example is completely relevant.
The Les Leston steering wheel that's advertised at £3000, when normally they sell (and have done recently) for around £500 at best.
The windows that were sold at £110, when there are countless examples of the exact same thing (a like product) selling for £20 or £30.
The only pointless thing I can see in this thread is someone posting in a thread to say it's pointless just for the sake of it. What are YOU trying to achieve? I can't see the point in it?

I'm a wealthy bachelor so these prices do not affect me.

I get your point mate, the whole point of a forum is for everyone to express their opinion and sometimes get that 'something' off your chest that bugs the crap out of you - I dont think any of us have an intention to uset someone else, but sometimes it gets other's danders up and off we go with a lot of heated comments - me, Im just tool old and crusty to give a rats a*se if people dont like me these days but I always try to be nice about things, Im sure my time will come when I too say the wrong thing and somebody will be having a go at me too!
Stay frosty people

I'm confused now.
I thought this was just a thread pointing out items on eBay that are unrealistically priced?
with this being in a 'chat' section of the forum, we are surely just having a bit of banter about the ridiculous prices some people expect to sell the parts for.
Personally i have no expectations of this thread making any difference to asking prices for used car parts but surely, that's not really the point of it?
It's just a group of people saying 'have you seen the price of this?!!!' and just to point out the fact that suddenly people are advertising readily available parts for lots of money or in some cases, rare parts that just aren't worth fortunes yet.
I will agree that people will pay what they think an item is worth despite what others think. If you see something you need and have done no research to define its value or shopped around to see if it is cheaper elsewhere then there is every chance you would buy it.
Also with items on eBay that offer no postage options, sometimes it is more economical to buy a part that is 20mins away for double the price that it is advertised elsewhere at the other end of the country.
And for the record, i would have paid 600k for 4 Matt terrace because according to Zoopla, it has a Swimming pool, Jacuzzi, 15 acres of prime farm land and a huge extension which 1,2 and 3 Matt terrace don not have.

the clue is in the name - 'forum', definition - 'a website and or email group set up by users for discussion between said members. You can say prices are stupid or of course they aren't, but saying the thread is pointless makes no sense. The forum is here to discuss issues of interest to the person posting, as long as there is content to discuss there is a point.
Oh, don't get me wrong. I do fully accept that it's an appreciating market (just like the housing market).
But let's say I bought my house in Matt Terrace 2 years ago. There are four houses in the terrace.
Number 1 Matt Terrace (my house) was £260k 2 years ago
Number 2 Matt Terrace sold last year for £280k
Number 3 Matt Terrace sold 2 months ago for £295k
Number 4 Matt Terrace has just been advertised at £600k.
Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd say I'm allowed to comment on Number 4 Matt Terrace being a little optimistic in price. The examples I've used for Minis and Mini parts prices are comparable to the examples at Matt Terrace above. People are seeing there's a price increase (as there has been for a good few years now) and are advertising parts and cars for figures that are totally plucked out of the air, that's the only 'point' I'm making here.
The analogy is completely irrelevant to the posts you've made.
That analogy suggests that of 4 like products, 1 is being sold for more than twice the price of the others. If that's the case then only an idiot would show interest in number 4. It wouldn't need a thread on a forum to point out the obvious difference.
Your point is a general complaint about sellers expectations. As I've said, complaining on a forum won't achieve realistic prices from unrealistic sellers and/or save non savvy buyers from paying too much.
Sorry, but this thread seems rather pointless to me.
