Had a look at the heelboard panel I bought last year in prep to make a rear subby jig for when I cut the floors out. Its a Heritage panel but FFS found that I couldnt get the bolts in.

Never mind all sorted out now.

Subby jig now complete as well.

Looking great, Ger!  Some good progress since the last time I caught up on your thread.

Excuse my numptiness, but is the rear subby jig to ensure the new heelboard panel aligns correctly?

Toeknee - As I'm replacing a complete floor and boot floor (one at a time) I thought it wise to have something to line it all back up.

A bit more prep for this w/e coming jobs.

Trial fitted A-post boxing panels.

Marked out places for plug weld holes. Also gave 1st coat of POR15 to the inside of the box section that will be formed when the panel is welded in.

As you can see from this pic the tag has to be moved as it sits under part of the panel.

Wow there must be more fresh metal in your GT than original. You must have a very understanding missus. What discount do we get from Minispeed? And is it on everything, or just panels?

jim5570, minimissions - to be honest the only bits that will be original metal are the roof, C-posts, B-posts and rear bulkhead, couldn't afford a new Heritage shell in one big chunk - round about £6500 atm, so doing it the long way as I have set myself a monthly budget of £300 and ordering every other month. Got rid of the missus long ago - so no problem. 12.5% discount with TMF+ membership , only on Heritage panels though. Been dealing with Emma from Minispeed and all I can say is that thery're brilliant.

I can understand that the price of a heritage shell is just silly. At least you can save money doing it this way and learn and save an original shell. I am going to be the same boat with my mk1 when i start there wont be much original left but you still saving them and thats the important thing. £300 per month is a good budget to have. I dont have the prob with the missus as she has a mini to so understands :D

That minispeed discount sounds good to me will consider them when i come to start ordering bits etc :)

Nice progress.  What colour are you planning for the GT then? Russet brown? :gimme:
