ETB said that was where they normally put em, so I just went with that. I'll think about moving it if it is vibey though... Cheers David

What sort of speedo do you have fitted then?? Have I missed something?

I've got an electronic speedo. It picks up its signal from magnets, like a push bike speedo. Means I dont have to fight a horrible cable into the back of that dash!

Mine sounds different to the acewell, theres just two little magnets about 6mm across that you araldite/JB weld onto the pot joint. I was hoping they'd be small enough not to affect it.

Just don't go off-road or into potholes, otherwise it'll shout at you lol

oh yeah thats another thing, suspension deflection. If its moving too much the range will be too great and wont get signal...depends where its mounted i guess, further to the wheel the more deflection there will be than right up toward the engine

on my acewell there was a sensor with 2 wires, one pos 1 neg, when the magnet passed by it sent the signal down the line to he unit, with the info i put into the ace about wheel size it used radi to do calcs and displaced speed and miles n all the other shiz it had

Thats why its on the pot joint - that always stays in the same position because its fixed to the output shafts. I'm not sure how easy it will be to set it to read speed accurately, but shouldnt be too hard. Need to go over to bruntingthorpe or somewhere where theres nothing to drive into while i'm pushing buttons on the speedo >_<

for the ace i marked a point on the tyre did one complete revolution rolling it forward, thats then the total outside rolling radius....if yours works the same way as that you will need that figure

Cheers toaster!

David, the speedo only has the one button on it so its harder to calibrate than the acewell. Should be ok though, once I can get it on the road and have a go.

Stamped my vin plate today and fitted it, then got evicted from the garage so Dad could service my brothers car. So, with nothing really to do on it, I gave it a quick polish! It looks mighty fine too! First thing tomorrow I'll be booking an MOT, and getting my insurance sorted O_O

*edit*
Yes, that is a finity sticker before anyone asks - there will be a TMF one going on there when it turns up!
