i know your going to need a massive amount of engine stabilisers to stop it jumping out of gear all the time!

AFAIK - You only need to to solid mount it if your not using the gear shift steady...
Will see how it goes, I can only fit the inside part, as I need to fit the enigne to work out the engine to the first UJ lenth...

Bloody hell, where were you going to get that done, I got mine done for £160 which included chemical wash, rebore (1380), skimmed 15 thou, crankshaft polised and balanced, piston rods fitted to pistons.

Looks as if it needs a hone though, but good price ;)

Yeh expensive isn't it, reason why I got a S/h block, its ok, doesn't need a rebore or a hone, its looks dirty because the bores are oiled...

anyways, been working on the Mini again today - got to love have a week off from work lol

After a day working on the Mini, I'm not far from fitting the doors, so I shoved my old doors on just as a test...
Looks awesome!!!!! I can;t wait to get my doors on, and bolted up.

(Please note, the doors are just placed into the recess, they are not bolted in yet....)

Lined up where I want the gear shift... trying and hoping its going to work where it is, so it means the gear shifter and the handbrake can go side by side, which meaning no shortening of the handbrake ;)
Need to get some UJ's from halfrauds and weld them onto the shafts...

More brakeline fitting, this time goodrich braided hoses.
I also got the longer hose for the clutch, looks much better than the copper ones!
Just got some longer ones to fit to the back too....

Fitted the dash today too!
I had to take the front part of the cage out..
This was funny... it was easier to put the cage back in, than it was in the first place!! How weird!

And finally, a piccy of it all laid out ready to bolt down, and line up etc...

Dog, thats looking good man, shouldn't be long now.
Are your stainless hoses long enough for full lock as they are looking pretty snug facing forward? May be just an optical illusion
Can you post some close up pics of how the door hinges are attatched to the inside of the a panel??
Do I need new A panels to achieve this as I am liking the look, I'm actually liking it a lot.
Keep it up buddy

Dave;
G clamps, and wedges yep!
I don't want to rush the doors yet, nor the front, as these we're expensive!

£170 for the pair of recon doors
£300+ for the front...

So I'm going to take my time doing these...

bigbadboab;

You need to strip the A-Panels off, so all you have is the flinch panel, get yourself an inner A Panel (aftermark one are good (£7)) weld that onto the flinch panel... then weld a Mk3 on, A Panel over the top...

Remember if fitting Exturnal hinges... the doors need to be lightened a little, otherwise you'll put excess stress onto the hinges...

Chopping the A panels off the front...
Smudger said its cheap than the ones without, and he said I can customise the height of the front, to give the instant "low look" from the front...

But yep, all coming together rather well, just seems to click together all in place ;)

Got a little bit more welding to do yet, very little things that I forgot, or need to add to fit certail items!

Adjustable brakets fitted, along with my braided hoses that I have gotten for the brakes and clutch...
Posted Image
Posted Image

And due to the manafatrure of the brakets... Minispares... the bolts wouldn't go on... so some mild w=tweaking with the drill was needed, and I had to round one bolt, and put a slot into the top, to make it a screw to get it on!!
