I'm not lowering the engine - the car is too low for that!
I'm tempted but both the Plenum and the throttle bodies... prefer the idea of throttle bodies, as it give the "ooooo" factor!

and after all the car is only going to be used 3-4months of the year lol

I JUST READ THIS ENTIRE THREAD UNDER YOUR RECOMMENDATION DOG FROM PAGE 1-58 AND IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT! you have a great project going with great work ethic and some humourous neighbour drama. my canadian neighbours r all for it! lucky me. you change your mind alot. Like the new look, not sure about the new engine, will take a long time, but it'll be sweet fast in the end. Ridiculously fast, lighten it up though, deffo lightening. Lovin' it's retro look with a crazy engine lurking under the bonnet. Waht are you doing about the brakes? and suspension. might as well go the whole hog with both. nice thread, i'd love it if mine got half as far lol. cheers warren

Cheers dude!
Told you its better to read the thread :w00t:

Ok its getting lenthy now, but now you have caught up, its only a quick glance now and then...

I do change my mind alot, yes, but IMO if I didn't look at other ideas, then I'll keep saying "what if".

The 16v does sound like alot of work doesn't it, but in all honesty, I don't think its that bad, least I havn't got to change subframes, clutches, gearboxes etc etc to get the most from my Mini.

As for suspention and brakes, the brakes are going to be non-servoed, Cooper S 7.5" calipers and disks, I would go 4pots, but they won't fit under my wheels :proud: I have looked into getting my wheels split, so I can have them running around 7x10 - they are 6x10 atm, but fastcarl, isn't too sure about them, thety seem a little to thin :D Oh well, not the end of the world!

Suspention, no coil over or anything, fast road rubber cones, Hi-Los, GAZ adjustable shocks/dampers, 10x6 KN Murcary's with Yoko 008 tyres - nothing special, as there is no need.

After looking at MOWOG's thread and looking at the boot floor I am tempted to do that now too, but where to put the spare wheel then?

The mental engine and its "steathy" looks should be quite surprising to some, and fighten to others lol

I want a spare!
I might bolt it the back of the backseat, and have it inside of the car...

Hummm... how much a boot floors? :proud:

Keep it steel in a road car. The weight saved isnt going to be that much anyway.

the only thing with siting the engine lower is that if you want to lower the car the drive shafts are going to be very dent and not straight putting more strain on the cv joints

Rubbish :D

:proud:

How often do the drive shafts actualy line up straight with both inner and outer joints when diving the car?

You read my mind!!!

I was just chatting to Purple Dasiy, and I said to her, I find it hard to make my mind up with what I want to do!
I've also been chatting to Dav, who said my pistons might not be good enough for 16v!! :D So my pistons might be for sale soon lol

Thought you'd sent them off to Morspeed for machining already? Surely they'd have told you if they were up to the job? What pistons are they? Powermax 73.5s?

Well, I dunno about what's machined for the 16V conversion? Maybe there aint enough meat on the crown to mahcine into? I dunno. They aint the best pistons in the world, but they are by no means the worst!
