Five grand would barely get you the 8 port head, cams, custom push rods and other 8 port specific bits!

Nope. Bill richards quoted me 5 grand for a 1380 8 port (although that would be not including carbs)

Seems fairly cheap to me, the Arden 8 port kit alone costs £1770 from MiniSpares, then theres the exhaust manifold, Cooper 'S' con rods and crank, rocker gear, carbs, then everything else you usually need on an engine.

Righty then.

Little update on whats happening and happend.

Not a great deal has happend. 2up2down spotlights are back on. And 'Luke' 4point harness's are bolted in.

Due to the "Seasonal" flooding of Upton. The little car has taken quite a bashing through the last few weeks.

The sills are rotting and a-pannels are flaking more and more each day. With this in course the engine is being put on hold and the bodywork is my main thought at the moment.

Have also been looking at other daily drives fot the time being so the mini can come off the road. Its looking like it might come off the road April/may time, then with new sills, a-panels, arches, possibly doors, grp6 arches and 10inch wheels (Either wellers or minilites), it will be going to germany again.

I have recently bought a cooper S disc setup off "minidave" so that i am able to go to 10s.

Anyway, thats it for the moment.

I must say, great to see some people sticking with small bore engines and rally style,I love It!

When the insurance gets a bit cheaper I plan to do something very simmilar to this, maybee not quite 100 horses but along the same lines....

Hey pie, got back from the rollers - 63.2hp! Dead pleased considering it was built in my garage with a dremel :D

Now very confident you're 100bhp is do-able. Its gonna be god-awful on to drive in traffic, but definatly do-able.

When you consider all the options that are left, because all i've done really is change the cam, std 1275 head, induction and exhaust, and taken a little weight of the fly. With more options like proper engineered pockets, head work, bigger valves, more lairy cam, lightening, balancing, better induction, better drivetrain, better suited advance curve - its sooooo do'able.

Get on with it ;)

Oh, and didn't notice the navy seal was on ere - 'ello - fix that motor!! :w00t:

lol even more SOLID evidence that 100bhp is easily gainable from a 998.

A little update.

The Manifold and exhaust link pipe had a squabble and have now decided to go their sepperate ways, making a gap. the sound is sex but the performance is aids!

Anyway, the mini is now off the road, and i have a 1991 Renault Clio 1.4 in Chav White. To be fair i thrash the living hell outta the thing and its withstood a lot of scares!!

The mini will be going in for;

New inner Sills (Drivers and Passenger side)
New Inner sills (Drivers and Passenger side)
New A-panels (Drivers and Passenger side)
New Door steps (Drivers and Passenger side)
Patching up here and there with new metal
Full Respray in Targa Red with OEW roof and possibly the black bonnet and tops of wings, still deciding.

All this to happen BEFORE Brand Hatch 2 Nurburgring 2007 run!!

Anyway all of that will be costing £1200 and ive already got the parts for about £40 in total.
The guy whos doign the work, Keith Churchfield (his son roger had his car on the malvern stand for those who arent from malvernshire) has worked on minis since the day they came out the factory door.
So as you would expect his work is exceptional.

Thats it for now i think

Oh go and see ''Hot Fuzz'' its AWESOME

:P Yes I catch your drift. Theres a thread around about why thats an extremely dumb idea.

Lets keep this a bit more civil please. If you don't like what someone is doing then you DON'T HAVE to post. If its breaking forum guidelines however, report it to a moderator and let them deal with it.

Pot, kettle spring to mind. That's very civil :xxx:

Anyway, what a great thread. You can't posibly do this or that. This or that won't work. Deary me the youth of today.
You'll never be able to land on the moon :D

Give it your best shot buddy, anything is possible to a point.

Some of the forum users on here need to have reality checks :P

just read the whole thread looks very nice, love the idea of small bore, i'm keeping it small bore, how do you plan on 100 though? i'm shooting for around 65....and what is all this talk about "square engines?" what does this mean. and then talking about using 850 cranks what does this do for the engine?what crank and cam combo is best for a 998, as i'm doing one up, see it's "specs" on my page...sorry for the thread hijacking but i was kind of confused and wanted to know whats best. (ps i'm looking for torque and acceration)
