1994 Mini 35 Edition

So... Mini won't start. Cut out last week and now just turns, like it's not igniting.

No Spark, changed the plugs, dizzy cap, rotor arm, leads, ignition switch and coil and non of these things changed anything.

Tested the positive to the coil and get 12V... not sure if it's intermittent though...

Anybody point me to the next thing to do? Any thing I can test to try and find out where the issue lies?

If the distributor is for points and these are bad, it will not start.

Yeah it's trying to start it's just not going, you can smell fresh petrol and it's got a near full tank so there is enough fuel.

It's got a new cap so the points are brand new...

Have you checked for a spark at the plug.

If it’s a Mini 35 it’s fuel injection ? No points in those....

More likely the crank sensor or the immobiliser (if it has one)

I agree

Edited its a carb car with no immobiliser.

I have a private message thread with the OP checking electrical connections.

There is a small low tension lead in the distributor which is braided - usually brown.

It sits one end under the condenser and the other to the body of the distributor

These do have a tendency to just "Give up the ghost"

Check to see if it is making a circuit - one of these gave up on me once - hence - no starting.

Can you rethink your information please buddy (no anger, in the nicest possible way). it's a 94 reg car with 65D dizzy, it won't have a condenser built into the dizzy like a points unit..

Would it be an idea to bypass the coil feed from the ignition temporarily to rule out the ignition switch and wiring? By running a live wire similar to the Ballast Resistor looms

Without making anyone angry ... but why is it so difficult for people to post photos when asking for help?
The best thing is to add a engine picture, another of the dizzy and another of the cables or connections.

This makes it easier to help.

It could be they are using a mobile .. the mobile interface isn't as clear when adding images. I switch to the FULL version and use the attachment option as I would on a PC

Have you been able to set the points again and make sure there is a spark at the points..

The points is the primary spark and if no spark there there will be no spark anywhere else..

If you need help setting or checking the points then let us know we can always assist.

Any other issues you have found or located since?
