why not install that 1380 you were on building before? rather than spending upwards of 100 quid on this engine spend it on getting the other one finished

'because the 1380 needs another £300 odd to finish it, and I wanted to build it onto a freshly built subframe with new suspension parts etc etc... so when I fit the 1380, touch wood, everything is ready and awaiting the extra power.... (I was going to do the rear subframe this weekend, but that'll now be done in the week)

What happens to a 998 head gasket when it goes wrong lol

You can see where the problem was between 3-4

While refitting - I put my Forged Cooper S 1.3 ratio Rockers on ;)

I also bought a Fibreglass Centre console, liek the old one, but this one is bigger and wider, so I can fit more dials onto it  Needs a tidy up, and drilling, but for £10 at Bristol mini day, I'm not arguing, spesh as the bloke wanted £20 to start with :-

And finially, I shoven him back onto 10's, soooooooooooo much nicer on 10's, but now, thanks to running wider wheels, I've found I now have a trackrod end gone :gimme: :P never noticed it when i was on the 12" steelies...

Well flubber is having a some treatment now lol

Due to me getting a new job, I can afford the nice bits I've always wanted...
So I've just arranged with guessworks, to get a GT box built... this'll be going on my 1380

And once I've got the pennies, and find out where I can get it setup, I'll also be getting new cones, RAC hi-los, and FULLY adjustable geometry gear too, along with, Minisport 7.5" 4 pot calipers for the front, braided hoses all round...

All the nice bits :dozing:

Its a dry-frame, I don't think they made a Van with a wet-frame?
I am only restoring it with standard bushes, as I don't think polybushes make no differ at all, to handling, just makes the inside a lot more noisy.

Once the rear is done, and I've got the cam in the engine etc, its time to restore the front subby
Then I guess the engine can in then :)
