...received some more bits today for the KAD head.

Here is a blank cam from Kent Cams. Notice the lobes are shaved off as they are not required. I dont actually need the distributor drive gears either with Megajolt, but handy as a fall back option.

Only the ability to drive the oil pump from the crankshaft.

I got a trigger wheel made for my bottom damper. This is one that KAD specially made for me.

The trigger wheel is actually bolted to the back of the pulley via a small Z adapter and the centre is machined out so that it is solid all the way through to the cam pulley. This is to ensure that crank vibration doesnt make the pulley drop off.

The trigger wheel is bolted to the back so that it avoids timing scatter that can occur with the metalastic damper. It has been known for the outer ring of the damper to drop off when they start to get really worn....so you can imagine there is plenty of scope for timing error on even a relatively young damper.

The Z adapter is there so that it gets around the tight fit of the timing cover.

a VR sensor mounting, as used by KAD and SC Components.

The towers that hold the sensor bracket on are cut down, so that the sensor can pick up the trigger wheel from the back of pulley.

....an oil feed hose.

This goes to the back of the head via a T on the oil pressure switch, to another T on the back of the head, via a banjo, so that oil can be fed to the cams. I chose to have 2 T's so that I can have an oil pressure switch and a mechanical oil pressure gauge for monitoring.

Good stuff David,

I just happened to be down that end of the world on tuesday for a meeting so I swung by KAD for a cuppa and the guided tour, what a great place....I could spend days there looking at the bits and talking C**p with the chaps there!

Hi Dan,

Yes I can imagine its like an Alladins cave with all the right machines do the jobs.

They certainly did a great job on the trigger wheel for the bottom pulley. I havent put it on yet, but its looking fine.

Its great to know we still have so many innovators in this country.

Hi Fast Carl,

Yes I know what you mean about more for less!

The cost of the lobeless cam was about the same price as a standard regrind.

I could have got a scrap one machined locally for a lot less....(or just fitted one in without being machined) but I havent got a machinist to hand now unfortunately. As I had an order in for other things I just put it on the list to save time.

...A bit of a luxury really, but it looks the part.

Oil flows back from head via this blue silicone pipe where the mechanical fuel used to go.
