if memory serves, the wires unclip as they are only spade terminals. cant u mask the lights off with masking take and paint the lamp unit that way? lemme know if this works. if it doesnt i will rifle thru the garage and grab it for youThat's a nice offer Fifi I hope I can do it before then I have to say, lol...
But if I can't get the old one off how would I get a new one on?
If I can remove the old one I will be able to do what I wanted to do but it's being awkward

Try an impact driver - I think they're only self tappers. If you don't have an impact driver you could give the screwdriver a few sharp taps to try'n loosen them.
Failing that you might be able to get at the screws from inside the housing with a set of pliers - don't try this if they're machine threads though!
PEE ESSS,
Think you'll find there are some bullet connectors on t'other end of the wires to the no plate lamps if you want to take the housing off yer motor vehickle

notice any performance increase?
your be suprised how much it does with the right exhaust on.
my black one had a just a big bore on the end,
changed it all, with my old straight through RC40 with metro carb, and you can hear the difference instantly!
plus i love the cream seats

dont they get dirty easy though? but i like the head rests in them, the normal ones look funny. unless the car is really old.
but its looking nice!

I noticed the difference immediately, as did Pete & Josh when I squealed down the road

It sounds excellent & runs alot better, it's definitely faster too, feels alot faster but I'm not RRing it to find out how much - too expensive!
It wasn't running exceptionally well before because the old manifold was blowing quite badly so I lost all the power before it even got as far as the exhaust

So much better now

Oh and the seats... yes they do get dirty easily

Only a girl could keep those seats clean

the rr session for fifi is £60 per hour which due to my engine being "special!" i dont think is too bad considering! had to buy a new airfilter tho as old one was pants! u will almost keep up with fifi as long as i dont use the 2nd choke on my carb! "yeah, like thats really gonna happen! stoopid heavy right foot!"It's a full Maniflow single box exhaust, cooper freeflow manifold, and stage 1 bits & bobs, all from Somerford Mini

are you gonna use the rollcage or still thinking about it. i am interested if you want to shift it.

I specifically wanted a Freeflow manifold as I had been told they are much better than an LCB for the 998 - the kit from Somerford Minis happens to combine the right manifold, the Maniflow exhaust, AND a choice of K&N filters (I took the element for the air box as I'm told the 998 doesn't know what to do with all the extra air a pancake shoves in so you have to set it up for racing or cruising, I'd quite like both so went for the air box filter)

And costs £175 or £179 (I forget already lol) but either way it's a good price and comes with good parts

Ooh and Marc, yes he does have a lovely rumble now

before fifi got her new engine she wore a full maniflow system manifolds back, that made more power along with a k and n element filter. ran lovely! on the quest for power i added a set of twin carbs and it developed even more power top end was raised aswell! twins next for minty??!!!

Shame because the front of the car looks so nice and I think the back lets it down
