Grind off the screw head and then drill out the holes to the correct size for fitting plastic plate holder screws on.

I want a chrome one eventually but for the time being I was going to paint the current one green to match the car.

However it won't come off - well it will, but the wiring won't

So I can't smash it because I need to put it back on until I get a chrome one - and I can't ruin the wiring/lights because I'll need it to keep the car legal!

There's nothing for it you'll have to buy a new boot lid.

I've got a lovely boot lid Just a ruddy irritating np light stuck to it via the wires!

Yo did read the several posts pointing out you can unplug the wires at the other end to the lights didn't you Lisa?

Well yes I did but I want to be able to remove them at the light end so that I can paint it

Well that's true...

If you unplug the wires in the boot you can just pull them through the hole in the boot lid complete with the lamp housing

Why not just mask up the boot and spray the light?
