I was thinking there might of been a bit of condanstiaion in the dizzy, which not allowing it to make full contact to fire the old boy up.

is this a 'how much damp-winding-up can minili take' contest..?!
The difference is that you won't get a kick in the nuts tomorrow for saying that!

Yes it would appear it is Mike

Funnily enough, we checked the dizzy for problems. Along with bloody well everything else

did you get minty running today? ive still got to put a 'cleaned' airfilter on my little beastie. doesnt look very clean. i was expecting to see all kinds of C**p floating away in the water but no.
i did find an old problem with the spark plug/lead tho as mine runs on 3 cylinders too now. next time he's not behaving, take the lead off the cylinder that isnt firing and slowly move it towards and on the plug. if you find that it fire nicely with hovering the lead just over the end of the plug, you got what i got, only thing is i dont know how to fix what i got lol. as i said i had this problem before on 2 cylinders, i spent months trying to find a problem until i found it, then all of a sudden it corrected itself and i got use of the full engine

good luck

It took a min to start today (which I think is due to a poor spark) but then it started and ran fine, straight away

Also got me to Reading and back, with a bit of driving in between, we had all sorts of driving conditions and quite frankly he took it all like a true champ! If it was the head gasket could it be intermittent like that? ie not be right one day but absolutely fine (excellent in fact) the next?

Maybe he just had on offday, and wanted to ring in sick?

Had a very enjoyable day

Despite driving it all day, I still managed to nearly miss 3rd gear a few times on the way home forgetting it was over on the right, not in the middle as it is on the Festa
