Fankoo! Just a shame I didn't get round to doing anything useful on it >_< ... Painting a dash just doesn't appeal when the Mini's just sitting there waiting to be driven :dozing:

Pleased to hear you got the bits! Love the sepia pics, I think you should pose next to it in a wafty dress with a big hat. Not sure why exactly, It'd just look retro.. I think.

Painted the "new" dash this weekend >_< ("new" because I bought it ages ago, but haven't fitted it yet)

Also found some new rust :o At bottom of the front panel, just above the bumper lip... there's quite alot sprung up :gimme:

Nearly... they are greenish but have only had a couple of coats so are matt and the primer still shows through...

I ran out of paint >_<

Only know one shop that stocks it so I'm going to get some during the week or on Saturday morning and get painting :o

if you know/get someone to find the paint code, any paint/panel supplier should be able to mix the correct shade for you in aerosols and they're probably cheaper than some other places like Halfrauds etc.

if you know/get someone to find the paint code, any paint/panel supplier should be able to mix the correct shade for you in aerosols and they're probably cheaper than some other places like Halfrauds etc.

But the shop that sells it is half a mile from the garage I keep the Mini in and it only costs £3.99! And Halfrauds doesn't do 20 year old paint colours ;)

Anyway I got some paint today, and this is what I've done. Not all particularly productive sadly...

> Put 2 more coats of paint on the arches - they look much better now
> Lacquered the new dash, very shiny
> Removed the old dash
> Attacked some bubbling paint/rust with a screwdriver just above the front bumper lip and on one arch, and sanded down
> Put a skim of filler on above areas - obviously didn't use enough hardener as it hasn't set :dontgetit:
> Tried and failed to remove the radio from under the dash rail - how the hell do you get it off?!
> Tried and failed to remove the pod around the dials - again what the hell?! >
> Texted 3 friends for help, no replies  How dare they have other things to do on a Saturday :techsupport:

Was annoyed by this point so have given up for now and come home. Forgot my camera again so no pics, not that there is anything to see really.
