when were the leads last replaced? when the HT coating gets old weathered and stiff, when you fiddle with them because there all tough little cracks form in the coating allowing voltage to jump.
if you were in the dark and sprayed a fine mist of water you would be able to see little jumps of electricity

I don't know when they were replaced, I've only had the car a year and it came with no history ;)

They are black so it would be hard to tell if they were worn :withstupid:

yeah, if you can afford it replace them just to be sure then do so ;) never harms...or bloody well shouldnt :withstupid:

the black leads might looks flakie tho, sylicone leads are less prone to cracking tho, if there all rubberie/siliconie might not be the cause

I haven't done anything worthwhile today, but....

:sneaky:

I have a few purchases to go on the car in the near future...

> Ally front subframe top mount bushes
> Competition engine mount rubbers
> 4th engine mount
> Chrome wipers
> Chrome GB boot badge
> New coil (worth a go)
> MkII rear lights (not here yet)
> Radiator (on the way? Retro...?)

I think both my fuel and temp guages are playing up  Temp gauge works when it wants to, and the fuel gauge hasn't gone below half full for ages, which while I don't use that much seems odd, I'm sure it should have been lower than that at some point lol. Makes me panic not knowing how much is in there

Sadly the arches are in fact nowhere near the same colour yet >_< They need a squillion more coats of paint and then lacquer, but they're greenish so they'll do for now... so I can drive it at least :)

The cat has been wondering around but I've not seen it in the road again... Was walking along the train track yesterday though :P
