Sounds like a side order to go with chicken's feet!
Did you mean bat or flatter perchance?

Also, the bit I have painted is black (most of it's in grey primer) but I'm wondering now if that's a good idea, because my interior plans have changed and there will be no black! Colour coding it to the car could be difficult because it's metallic paint, and the only other option is cream/off-white or brown

Also, will probably buy a stage 1 kit at MITP if it'll fit in the mini but won't fit it til after the MOT just in case!
MITP is at Santa Pod near Northampton on Sat 18th - Sun 19th August. I don't know who you can jump in with, I have a passenger already so not me I'm afraid! There are lots of us going though so I'm sure somebody can - or you could dart up in the Escort?

Today despite the rubbish weather forecast it stayed dry for most of the day so we got a few bits done on the wee mini

First things first - the rust on the wheel arches needed sorting (many pages ago, following removal of plastic ones)
A pretty slap-dash job: screwdriver, rust treating goo, bit of chemical metal in the hole, quick coat of primer, then paint (no lacquer - we don't have any!) all with sanding in between each stage

Also - we had problems when we took the arches off in that some of the rivets didn't actually come out

Here's a before and after of each side (one or 2 rivets can be seen here):

Not bad for my first spray job

Then the other job of the day was to attach my new chrome sill/arch trim........

It's really badly kinked where it had to bend the wrong way - hot water was rubbish and hair drier was also rubbish so dad resorted to a hot air paint stripper

Here's some final pics of how he stands with his new trim and de-rusted arches (and rhubarbed front suspension and passenger door!):

There was one other, small, problem

And I'm not sticking things to the outside or I'll never get them off

He's pretty much ready for MITP now

Just waiting on the rear bench cover from Emalee... *waits*
