sorry to kinda hi-jack juju.
when i get to about 70 mph ish... i tend to get more of a 'vum-vum-vum-vum' etc.
is this normal? and just the way they engine runs and the gases going through the exhaust? or is it something thats being a bit poorly on peanut?
sam
Could be a bit of imbalance in the tyres or it could just be with the throttle wider open more of the induction sound waves are escaping - especially if you have a pancake style of air filter.
I think a hub will sort your woes Juju - the high torque used on the hubnut is supposed to clamp all the bits solidly together not load the bearing (some vehicles with taper bearings are only assembled finger tight) if bits get worn you can end up with way too much, or too little, preload on the bearing causing accelerated wear.

Well it didn't last time it was replaced. Third time lucky?

So will everything now be new? Hub, bearings, CV, drive flange, conical washer, hub nut?
Everything will be changed, but not necessarily new.

I'd just be concerned that after so many attempts either the true culprit won't be found or your chasing problems round in circles - ie change a dodgy hub but has it already knackered the bearings or the CV joint, then change the CV but has that already knackered the drive flange etc etc etc.
If it was me I'd be biting hard on the pillow and taking the financial pain in knowing it was all new or at least known good used parts. A good used hub possibly but the rest I would have new.

No crunchy-crunchy-ping or ve-vum ve-vum on the way home, which is slightly reassuring.

Well I really hope it solves it - I have every thing crossed that I can!!
Cheers Graeme! At least I didn't have to pay for it this time (thank you favourite mini-men

I've got all my bits crossed too, but it makes driving quite uncomfortable.

Rumble, rumble, rumble in a straight line, ve-vum-ve-vum-ve-vum-ve-vum on cornering.

Does anybody want to take her off my hands before I take a sledgehammer to her? I normally never condone violence, but she is really pushing her luck.

What wasn't replaced? About all that's left is the disc and caliper.

EDIT: Oh, and the wheel itself?

It's just possible the disc could contact the swivel hub, even only when warmed by braking. Clutching at straws but I think that's in order.
You reckon, Eff?
You think it's worth trying a new disk or should I just not bother with braking anymore?

Dunno to be honest, I'd expect there to be some evidence to be seen if the disc did catch. I do know this is fixable though, you could have just been unlucky with your choice of donor parts. I really can't see the wheel or anything further away than the cv joint making any difference without it causing very obvious effects as you drive.
