Do they measure top speed on a power-run on a rolling road? :ermm:

If so, I'll tell you next week! :ermm:

:)

Yes they do measure top speed, but its only the speed of the wheels because aerodynamics has a big part to play as well.

I think on the RR my 1293 was achieving speeds of around 130 mph at 7300 odd RPM, but in a real world situation I think around 110 mph was the limit, it just couldn't move the air out of the way any quicker, being a flat fronted brick!

Good luck with the RR session (glad you got the Fiat sorted too!)

Thanks!

We've got a session at Southam booked! :) Could have a tune up, but he doesn't really need it! :dontgetit: hehe ^_^

He's running better than ever now, so I'm confident he'll do relatively well! :ermm:

(Glad I got the Fiat sorted too! :ermm: Damn cars! :dontgetit:)

I did about 250 mph in my mini the other night, then i woke up. seriously i actually can get around 90-100mph but i dont know if it goes quicker.
You also cannot be prosecuted for admiting to speeding this is totally untrue. The police have to have 2 little things called PROOF and EVIDENCE, bragging on a forum does not consitute an offence..... it would never go to court it would be dismissed as hearsay.

no but people posting up pictures and videos normally constitutes to both proof and evidence in my eyes!

we'll be alright if no one posts up a picture!!

Edit: that said.. minis arnt normally associated with going quick are they?
so i think the chances are slim that any of us would be busted.

that said.. Matt Youngs about :)

I took my austin cooper s 1071cc to wolves for a rolling road test in 1995 to get it sorted properly as there is no rolling roads over here, on the way back to Jersey I clocked 105mph, test resaults were 93bhp @ flywheel and 77bhp @ wheel, rRichard Longman prepared motor 731 cam fully lightened and bal fly and backplate crank and rods Longman st3 37-31 head twin 1.5 carbs, 3.765 dif, sc/cr g/box sc drop gears. Went like s**t off a shovel............ :)

videos and pics are also generally inadmissible, the reason for this is that the driver could have (fixed) the speedo to read more than it should (can be done with electronic device), the driver cannot usually be seen, the date and time and whereabouts cannot be determined etc etc. YOU CAN be prosecuted for careless driving via video evidence but whether or not the cps would take the evidence as 'safe' enough to secure a conviction i seriously doubt.

its all love and war obviously you dont think its right but if seen it'll be up to you to prove that its fake and if not then well you'll get the hammer regardless. it was only a warning wouldn't want minis getting taken and crushed or whatever they do for the sake of a silly pic you know

again all hearsay, the police say alot of things but logically all those videos unless witnessed by a policeperson are unsafe evidence.
it stands to reason.

Doesn't help matters though...

OK, if they can't prosecute for individual offenses that are 'bragged about' on forums, it doesn't stop them reading this and then getting an impression about all mini drivers. It's only going to make them more likely to keep an eye on and to stop all of us.

the police are 'all over the place' at most auto events, car and bike. Thats what they do because thats their job!
I think its a bit silly to think that police are after mini drivers when on other forums like the modded sites and bike sites, members think that too.
The police DO catch uninsured and untaxed drivers though at events which for me is no bad thing. If you dont break the law in the first place youve nothing to worry about.
Bragging is human nature and braggers are everywhere. they are no big deal.

:)

Although, it is kinda annoying when you get pulled over for absolutely no reason! :ermm:

I got stopped (in my Fiat!) by the unmarked police car, in Hereford. He had a chat to me, patted me on the back for being a member of the IAM and then just told me I could go!! :ermm:

Just caught this thread, imabitnaughty is bang on re video and speeding etc. CPS is no way going to run anything when words or images are on a forum, as for the guy in the lotus excige i can only suggest that he was silly enough in interview to cough being the driver when shown the video!!!!!

As for cops stopping imabitnaught for number plates..........they really do need to get a life!!!!!

Cheers
