jordie, only thing done over the weekend was using some rust sealant stuff on the inner arches and where steve had been welding :) spent most our time on yours :P

'therestorer', woooooop finally someone with a mini same colour as mine :P what do you feel about the colour ? loads of people are telling me to change mine while its at the stage it is, but i quite like it :ermm:

repairs needed are
both inner wings(one already done)
whole front end(doing steel flip front)
theres a gash in the floor from the crash
the subframe needs heated and reshaped slightly
drivers door was sort of bent/mis-shaped from the Apanel being wedged into it
scuttle corner(already done) + closing panels on both sides
engine was pretty smashed up aswell, hence getting the 1330

the colour is 'azure blue' i have a code for it which il post up in a sec >_<

Excellent. thanks alot mate. im pretty sure that they are the same colour.

what do i feel about the colour... interesting question actually, im not entirely sure myself. Personally I think that its a lovely colour, but in terms of styling /cosmetics im undecided what trim will go best with the paint job... crome is a good look for most minis but im not sure putting loads of shiney bits on an already light colour car would look as nice as something else.... i cant visualize it lol.

how come people are telling you to change the colour? i want to keep some of the originallity on mine so i think the current colour will stay (original factory paint job) How do you feel about the colour?

Heres a mini with similar paint colour which i think looks quite cool.

thas gawjus !! :)

i really like the colour, i think it works well with the black ive used on the arches, alloys and windows ect... people just keep saying this is one of a few opertunities i will get to change the colour, which is true but what would i change it to ? i havent really seen any other colours that jump out at me for my car.

what are the plans for yours ?

its not too shabby eh? :) not overly keen on the body kit though.

ive only just started the process of restoring mine, and theres plenty to do. It needs some structural repairs to the front subframe mounting, the inner sill and i have discovered some nasty looking rust in the rear passenger side quarter/at the bottom of the storage pocket.. you can see the ground through that one. also some corrosion on the wings and front panel so they are going to need renewing. and whatever else i find when i start to carve her up! :S

while thats getting done, the engine (998) will be out and rebuilt. im going to add a brake servo, disks and new rear drums because the currents brakes are naff. ive got a 1275 that i might drop in, so it will need the uprated brakes if i make that choice and will save alot of hassle later on.
a new electrical loom needs to go in, the one in there now is knackered beyond redemption.

when the structural, mechanical and electrical jobs are done, then i can do the cosmetic. like i said, i will keep the colour but im stuck on inspiration for trim.
my initial thoughts are an mk1 grille (or a custom grille of my own), headlamp peaks, frosted indicator/rear clusters, crome bumpers, crome wipers, matt black arches, black and white numberplates and mayb bullet style rearviews. tinted windows poss aswell. i have some exacton mini special alloys which need to go to a specialist for refinishing and painting, probably in silver. should go down a treat.

on the inside, im thinking black leather seats, woodrim and aluminium steering wheel, chequer aluminium door plates and rear parcel shelf. probably go for a black headlining.. i like wooden dashes, perhaps something to match the steering wheel. i think an 8 ball poolball will be a nice touch on the gear lever serving as the gearknob.
not sure i want a carpet... bad idea, they just hold water!

still having trouble picturing it all together though. i just want to get it right! any thoughts on this?

cheers.

Sounds like you have some work cut out there.

TukTuks is mint really. The wings were scabby in afew places, but the rest of the car is totally mint, just like out the factory.
