oh sorry to hear about lilly getting poorly, might be worth doing a head gasket change, its not too dificult, even if youv never done one before as long as youve got a haynes its easy! lol at least she looks all pretty! just realised James has over-sills on him so they will have to go! and he should be getting a tidy up whilst im doing my project this month so hopefully he will be looking good for his first time meeting Lilly at L2B he might even have a new FG front if insurance guy says yes! also got some grp2arches after seing yours! and he has Alloys! went with black in the end, well the front two are still silver but the rears are matt black with chrome center cap and nuts! i think James will enjoy meeting another Advantage, especialy one as pretty as Lilly! lol
is it sad that me and the missus have decided when we have kids there going to be called Lilly and James????????? Lol

Make sure its not the thrmostat housing, I thought I got water coming out the head at the front before and turned out to be the thermo housing leaking and dripping water onto the front of the head where the gasket sits.

Reeties, took Lily on a bit of a drive today to Decathlon which is about 25/30ish(?) miles away. It was a bit of dual carrage way driving and also back roads. Her temperature kept going up and down, so before we left to head home I checked her water. Not good news im afraid :( The water level was fine, but looked really manky and there was all brown stuff around the cap. Checked her oil cap when we got home and theres mayo! Yum. :teehee: So tomorrow morning im gonna take a trip to Min-its for the bits to do it and then me and the fella will spend monday getting her sorted! :) Also going to change the head studs as I think they could do with it. So hopefully she'll be all fixed and ill save a fortune in water! :teehee:

On the plus side, with the head coming off, im gonna get it painted before it goes back on, it will delay getting her fixed, but reckon its worth it!

I reckon shes looking forward to meeting James too! :gimme: Shes not met any other Advantages since ive owned her! Maybe if she knows shes meeting him then she might behave! :)

Dooby, she is going to the Bubble, even if she doesnt want to! :teehee: Shes been abandoned on Rons drive, so we're only about 2 miles away, so she should be fine getting there, just gonna take it easy :) If not, then the RAC truck can come to the meet too! :dontgetit:

Thanks paul :) Ive had a look, but Im pretty sure its coming out from the head, cause its coming out all the way along and when shes hot you can see if bubbling! :teehee:

My fella spent Sunday and yesterday replacing the head gasket for me, but there's bubbles coming out all the way around the gasket, I hope they go otherwise I reckon it could mean either my block or head aren't straight ;) The new gasket was put in exactly as it says in the Haynes manual, so im pretty sure thats all in right.

Sounds like your head is banana shaped, you need to get it skimmed. Im afraid your going to have to repeat the process ;)

I had the head skimmed when it was rebuilt ;)

The thing is, both the block and head were checked and measured when it was being rebuilt and then the head was checked again when it got back and they were both absolutely fine :D

Lilys head seems to be sealing itself! Its not bubbling as much anymore!!

Last sunday I had arranged with my club and the local paper that we would meet their photographer to have our pics taken!! Went to leave, pulled out from my grandparents house, to see some liquid coming out from under the bonnet and ending up on my windscreen.

I stopped as quick as I could and ended up down some little residential road. I had a look and the little rubber pipe that links the petrol line to the carb had split ;) Just my freaking luck!

I was stood struggling trying to get the pipe on futher to miss the cut when a guy came out of his house to see what was up. Turns out he'd just bought a Mini and loved working on cars. He had a look, nipped round to his mates and came back with a bit of replacement pipe and fixed it!! Lucky or what?! Absolute winner!

Since then, she seems to be running a lot better and starting a lot better, so not sure if there was a little hole in it or something?

Theres still bubbling coming out from the front of the head

Tomorrow the heads coming off and im gonna get the water pump replaced, then the heads gonna be checked again and might have to be taken back to be skimmed again if it isnt straight. :dontgetit: I just hope that shes gonna be done ready for L2B. :dontgetit:

Many times fizzle!!

I had the block and head checked yesterday and the heads fine, the blocks banana shaped  Just the answer I didnt want, but my mates gonna try and hand grind (whatever its called!) it back, worth a shot!

Just cant believe it. Everyone had been telling me they'd never seen a wonky block before even after years of working with Minis. It would be mine that would be different! :) I suppose if this is the case then at least a positive thing is that I have a strange and rare block! :)
