We have an update ;) (Click on images for full size)

My MPI pullies arrived :)

Posted Image

Also did a bit of bodywork. Got the front end back together and started to line all the panels up. Still need alot of work to get them to fit correctly.

Posted Image
Posted Image

Also painted and patched the hole i had. Just need to get some filler on there when its sorted and it should be ok.

Wow Chris you have been busy this weekend, cracking work!

The panels look to be lining up a whole lot better than they were last time I saw them, are they the same ones?

Yeah they are the same ones. Just been cutting and moving them to get them fiting better. Once the door steps are done i can get the inner wings on :shifty: Then i get the fun job of trying to line up the wings and things but i will get there eventually ;D

Thanks Bean :)

Did a bit more today, re-welded that plate on and tacked it into position on the car, spent the rest of the time sorting out the inner wing and getting that lined up correctly... im nearly there now on the drivers side.

Ill be back out there tomorrow all being well and i will get it lined up fully and then start to weld it into position so i can start on the passenger side.

Todays and yesterdays work.

Working with gas and a proper regulator that doesnt leak my welds are getting there but not going well with the welder... it has a mind of its own... well either that or the weld 2 primer isnt working right.

Re-welded the panel correctly and cleaned up.

Posted Image

Tacked the panel into the car
Posted Image

Put inner wing back in to make sure everything lined up correctly.
Posted Image

Posted Image

Bad piccy but bulkehad lining upto inner wing.
Posted Image

Paint taken off and then sprayed with weld 2 primer

Punched plug weld holes.
Posted Image

Two plugs done, messy but took
Posted Image

Panel welded in, again messy but took
Posted Image

Nice weld... didnt take to the other panel.
Posted Image

Tacked welded in.

Ive given up for the day because of the welder problems, think the weld 2 primer isnt working right >_<

Either way its progress.

Looking good mate
and why dont you try just sading a bit of the primer off along the edges of the panels then see if the weld comes out smoother?
that stuff never really works amazingly to be honest, welding on two raw bits of metal is the best

Thats the plan, going to sand down the primer back to bare metal... ive been doing good welds on bare metal before now but was told to use zinc primer by someone... wish i hadnt now.

I think ill just add a bit more seam sealer instead around the areas so it doesnt get water in there.

I admire the determination you have Chris >_<

Determination.... i think im a bit mad.

make sure you take the black paint off the panels before you weld to it. better yet, run a sanding disk over everything your gonna weld. both sides of the holes for plugs, and the mating surface. ive used weld thru primer for my entire build and havent had a problem yet. it doesent help the quality of the welds (doesent hurt either) but it does stay after being welded keeping some of those mating parts that i cant paint covered in something. good luck with the rest of the build, stay at it and youll be done in no time. heres a link to all of our pics, im sure ive spamed it on your thread before, but it helps keep me motivated to keep going.... somehow. http://s94.photobuck...ellwil/clubman/

We have an update, a few things for the engine arrived.

Baffle Tray
Posted Image
Posted Image

Piston Liners. The use for these will come clear when the engine is built.
Posted Image
Posted Image

Also welded the drivers side inner wing on, the first go today the welds didnt penatrate enough and when i put a bit of weight on them they split but did it with some force, tried again with more power and it did the job.

Plug Welds

Dont look too bad.

Grinded and painted, a few need filling where the plug isnt full. I will do that tomorrow, done enough for today.
