Do you ever sleep? Haha.

Well yeah I'd do it that way but I haven't got access to a compressor and spray gun, so rattle cans are my only option at the minute.

& I think I'll be leaving the subframe attached to the car and lifting the engine out, that way when I start cutting panels away the subby acts as a brace and the shell won't twist. Whilst the engine is out I'll clean that down and give that a lick of paint. I'll be killing two birds with one stone.. & making more jobs but I don't mind.

I thought the best way was to use normal paint and add a matting agent. This gives the matt look but retains the waterproofing ability of the actual paint. I beleive this is what the vdub boys use when doing fake ratties.

Well, he also said:

"No stuff won't stick to it... It'll be like any other paint job, just not shiny.. yes you can put clear with a flattening agent over it, but it's expensive and doesn't always work."

So, bomb can should be fine. Just take your time and it will turn out nice :D Wish I could help! Makes sense about the suby and you can try the paint in the engine bay to see if you even like it before you do the whole car.

Its the time difference lol, I sleep sometimes. But, I am 8 hours behind you in the time zones...

Here is what I'm thinking..

Glossy black roof (I'd get this professionally sprayed)
Matt colour for the whole car & engine bay, that beige colour of the VW.
Glossy black engine block.
Matt coloured rocker cover & other little accents the same colour as the body.

Would look really nice?

I think it would look pretty nice, but for starts I would go with a Matt roof. I think a glossy one might throw everything off. The rest of it is spot on though :D

I've been thinking about that colour and I think I'm set on it.

Also I'm gonna add a few retro stickers! Like this,

Posted Image

I'd put it in the top right on the bonnet just underneath the scuttle, I think that against the beige would look amazing.

Posted Image

Maybe a Lucas underneath.

& I'd spray the engine bay glossy black, I think the beige would get far too dirty way too fast.

Just been out and I've done a couple of things to make the engine bay a little nicer, first of all I ripped out all the foam, I can't believe I've only just done this! It looks so much nicer & cleaner with that all gone, I then took out the washer & brake fluid bottles & cleaned those up. Couple of little jobs and it didn't take long but it's all in preparation for the flip front, oh and I polished up the carb but you can't see that because of the air filter.. I might see how much a K&N cone is..
