Nice work on the wiring resto, very practical.

With regards to the bulkhead.. all those unused holes, buy some rubber grommets (with some grease/vasoline, to insure a seal) if they're big or just put a bit of black duck tape on them if they're tiny tiny. You might need them in the future for god knows what.

Welding them all up is really overkill, and you'll to put seam sealer on them then to make sure they're actually "closed".

You're not building a concours car are you?

Haha, certainly not building a concours car! Just peace of mind to be honest, if I've got a welder to hand in the future then it won't take long to weld them up! Certainly looks better than loads of rubber grommets all over the place & it's guaranteed to be watertight ;)

I don't mind the extra work, it'll make it worth while in the long run :D

Haven't really achieved much today, It's my last day off with the mumps as I'm going back to college tomorrow :D but I'm happy with the stage I'm at.. managed to get all the wiring back through and hooked up, also installed my new headlights & front indicators which are lovely >_< having a problem with the main beam in one of them but I'll iron that problem out. I still need to finish properly splitting the two groups of wiring and putting them in convoluted tubing, but that can wait till another time.

Not much else to report :P

& my new second hand heater control panel turned up, not 100% but a damn site better than the one I've got now! can't wait till the final stage of the re-build where I can start putting the interior in and the final touches.

Figured seeing as I had nothing to do I might as well strip down and clean up the heater, at the moment the bits are drying in the garage so tomorrow night if it's still light I'll get in there and reassemble it.

Have you ever welded before?
You say it would be easy to spot weld up the holes, but its easy to burn through steel as thin as a mini bulkhead.
I think it would be a lot easier to do as mentioned before, and just fibre glass over the tiny holes.

As long as he takes his time having a practice before he goes for it on the actual car I think he will be fine.

Looking through Image's thread I can tell he's a guy after my own heart and in the long term would probably see fiberglass as somewhat of a bodge in comparison with welding the spare holes up. Am I right Image?

Those lights look amazing, you're actually making me consider selling my Wipac Clearforms but I don't think those Lucas lamps would fit in with the style of mine as well as they will yours.

Keep it up sir!

As mentioned before welding them up is probably 'overkill', rubber grommets seem the way, as the holes were put there for a reason, and you will probably find out what they are used for if your going to do everything properly. Also I have done welding before, and its not the easiest things to get rigt first time, its alright saying firbre glass is a 'bodge' but at the end of the day, it does the job, you probably wont see them as the holes are so small, and it will more than likely save you a lot of heart ache.

Yup that's spot on, I'm not calling fibreglassing a bodge job though mind! as it's been done on my wheel arches as a temporary fix to keep the water out, obviously there are some cases where you can go waaay overboard with the fiberglass for it to be a major bodge job, but yeah I'm after a perfect or almost perfect turn out for b :)

I'll be having a big hand hopefully with the welding from my Dads mate and I'll keep the bonnet from the front end to practice on or something before I go anywhere near my bodywork :P

Light switch turned up today & some K&N stickers, don't think I'll be using them but they're nice to have :) free!

I'll be spending plenty of evenings in the garage practicing when I sort myself out with a welder, holes aren't hard to create so if I do need to run wires or something it's not the end of the world. Can't think what I'd need to add in though.. say for example the Speedo, I need to drill a hole more in the center in the bulkhead plate rather than where it is, so rather than stick a grommet in the old hole, I can just weld it up and it's nice, tidy & sorted for good.

Anyway that's all a long way away, still gotta get her in the garage and drop the engine out :)

Just a quick question, why couldn't you transfer the wires, etc to inside the car?
