Precisely 67,567 miles when she came off the road Andrew, & I'm not too sure about the original Cooper colour scheme, I'll look into it.

Halfords sell Gunk so I'll pop in there tomorrow if I get the chance, ta :P

the best and easiest way is to get a few cans of cheap carb or brake cleaner, or just solvent in a can. spray it on the block and lots of oil and much will run off so make sure you have a load of rags or absorban stuff underneith.

then keep spraying and rubbing with cloth, rag, or tissue/blue roll, and it will get realy clean realy quickly.
its alot cleaner than doing it with foamy stuff as you dont realy want to have to pressure wash the engine down.

Inspirational?

Cheers I guess! Progress has been quite slow but I'm so happy with where I'm at now, looking forward to cleaning the engine and painting that up :) gonna get both the subframes blasted, painted and built up.

Ah so plenty of miles left in the old bird yet then lol.

Yeh a polythene sheet and sawdust is good for absorbing all the carp that comes off the engine.

What you on about James? 208hp turbo? dump valve?

That was the car in the vid, a 208hp mini with a dump valve, and he is turboing his mini and has a dump valve too, I think that is what he is getting at  .

yeah, thats what I was getting at, thanks Dan lol.

good progress, keep it up

Picked up some GUNK & some more WD40 'cause I've been getting through cans of the stuff lately! also picked up an application form for Halfords, so hopefully with a bit of luck I can land a 2nd job which means more money :(

Roll on Sunday.

Decent few hours spent on her today, really happy with the progress! taking so much elbow grease to clean the block up but it's worth every second.

I began by stripping down the engine of all ancillaries & carefully placing them in boxes, don't want to go loosing bits, seeing as it's the heart of the mini!

Old vs. new speedo cable, shorter because it's the earlier style Centre Binnacle.

All the bits put carefully into boxes, either to be replaced or cleaned up.

& me! ;)

Gonna sit down tonight with some coffee & go through Minispares ordering all the little bits I need, from gaskets & bolts to an uprated waterpump.

Looked at getting a tin of BMC engine paint from Moss and it's 25 quid including postage! I don't really know where else to get it though and I do need it soon to paint up the engine, anyone know anywhere cheaper?

Does it have to be BMC? You should be able to get some engine paint cheaper than that surely?!

I got my engine lacquer off of ebay, it wasn't too bad. It's regular old black though so I don't know how you'll do looking for BMC green on there.

The paint isn't that expensive I don't think at about 14 quid for a tin, it's just postage that's the killer!

& yeah it has to be BMC :(
