Haha, I thought about that earlier! 79 pages & only the last 10-20 have been proper progress! Is there a limit of pages I can have? ;)

Cheers man :) don't think there are many people who have read the whole thing in one sitting ;)

As for inspiration, this mini in the latest Mini Magazine says it all! It was exactly how I've been picturing mine, but the idea I have has a lot more comforts like sound deadening & carpets :)

I don't know what the copywrite laws are.. but here is a cheeky picture of the one I mean

:)

Think if I find a decent price for a set of MK1 doors I'm going to bite the bullet & convert the a-panels & door step to fit the MK1 doors.

That is one tasty mini. At one point I did ponder on the idea of going archless as it is a good look but I think you need all the mk1 looks to pull that one off, maybe another project after this one

Mk1 doors do look great but it is quite a conversion from what ive read, i did think about putting a fake pair of external hinges on though, not sure it thats an option for yourself?

Best bit on it though has got to be the 10's :)

Hopefully I'll have all the MK1 attributes to be able to pull of archless, saying that I think my GBs would stick out way too far.. I'd ideally want to get my hands on a set of the aluminum arches like Ted does on here, but I'll see what I can make work ;)

Ahh yes it'd be a massive operation to fit MK1 doors, but that's the beauty of me going to University in 4 months.. I haven't got a deadline! so if it takes longer than expected then it's okay, it's a labour of love :)

Okay so after a brief heated discussion with Dad this morning the deadline is now next years L2B run :)

So MK1 doors are just another bee in my bonnet ;) at college right now, but will get home as soon as possible when I finish and carry on cleaning up the engine.. hopefully if I'm lucky the minispares order would have arrived today or will do in the next few days.

Also going to strip down the front subby so I can get bits sandblasted as soon as possible!

Tonight will be a late night with lots of coffee

Damn, I've got a can of BMC green in the garage thats unused after a change of plan on the van. Mk1 doors aren't worth the effort, believe me! They put proper doors on the mk3 for a very good reason! Put all the other mk1 touches on, but leave the doors.

Haha, so within 2 hour of each post youve now got a deadline :( I'd love to set a deadline but with my ever changing ideas and the money totting up fast its impossible, i'd like mine to be finished for the first half of next year though, bit of movement there :P

Bodywork is going to take long enough without the doors in my opinion, youve got a fair amount of panels to replace and no doubt it will take a fair bit of time to get the frontend just right.

U'd best go get some panels and crack on

Shame about the BMC Minivanman but it's already on order! & yeah MK1 doors are quite adventurous.. to be perfectly honest I think I've already bitten off more than I can chew with restoring a classic car at the age of 18-19, earning 250 quid a month and having never attempted anything like this in the past :( but there is no time like the present

Home from college, no orders have turned up but the bloody postman doesn't show up till 3 o'clock anyway.. will get changed in a bit and carry on cleaning down the engine, then start stripping down the front subby.

Can MK1 door handles be put onto MK3 doors? I guess the locking mechanism is different.. but how much fettling is needed?

i think you should go for the mk1 doors if you have a year to finish then i think you have enough time
