I believe the wheel you're talking about is called the bottom pulley, and that bolt is threaded in to the crank.

Take your starter motor off (if you haven't already) and jam a screw driver or something similar in to the flywheel teeth, it'll lock the engine so you can undo the nut. Be warned, you will need to torque this back up to the correct value when you put it back on, same for the timing cover bolts >_<.

Cheers Deathrow! I've got the day off college tomorrow so I'll give it a go.

Might get the timing cover sandblasted when I get the other parts sandblasted, along with some other engine bits.. like those two caps, one has a breather on.. name? >_<

Best thing to stop the flywheel going round is a piece of ring gear where the starter motor goes (one of dad's useful tips lol). That's if you have some spare ring gear hanging around. If not, then like deathrow said, use a screwdriver, pry bar or something of that description.

Old shell bearing does work a treat, however I'm assuming that Image still has them on his crank haha. Thats the problem I came across. If you've got an old bit of Mini panel lying around you'll be able to bend that to work the same way, that's pretty much what I had to do.

Although now I have a set of main bearings to use :shifty:.

Image, the things on the back (one has a breather), they're tappet chest covers chap ;).

Oh my very nice!

I trust that motor is a good runner and doesn't need a full rebuild then?

Sorry about the quality for some of the pictures, they looked okay on the camera screen :shifty: & those little patches of unpainted bits in the first picture have been touched up so it's all lovely now.

Well she never missed a beat whilst she was on the road before, things like the cooling system broke down & occasionally the electrical bits but she's always performed well so it didn't make sense to rebuild it fully.. although I will be adding the rest of a stage 1 kit and get her rolling roaded before the MOT.
