Good work Image analogue!

The only thing I would consider changing whilst its out is changing the clutch, because of couple of reasons really; a: its a hell of a lot easier doing whilst its out. b: clutches are very funny in the sense if they've been stood a while they can cause you problems.

I would change it my opinion, lightened maybe ;) Thats my plan anyways :shifty:

Good progress anyways, got my engine paint today and had a look round Oz's mini, its a beast! He's sending me some high res pics so I can have a look at the bear claws, i'll send them across to you when I get them :)

Thanks guys :shifty:

I've put in another little small order from Minispares, various nice bits including a new rocker cover ;)

I'll have a look at clutch parts, I used to rag her around the country lanes quite inconsiderately.. so that may have taken it's toll, is there a way I can check for wear?

Woke up stupidly early this morning and got into the garage before I left for college for some tinkering, just sorting bits into boxes for Sandblasting, which will be done as soon as I strip the front subby down.

Powdercoating is the best option right? I mean, it's far more hardwearing & longer lasting than painting it all in Hammerite myself.

The clutch would have to be removed to check the thickness of the lining, and for the hassle of removing it, you may aswell change it. It wouldn't be expensive to do.

"Lightened Clutch" thats a new one lol.

Engine looks nice now painted up. Did you buy those gaskets seperately or was it from some sort of set? I'll be needing some similar gaskets soon.

Good work Luke

James your idea of expensive is different to mine! :) I can afford diddly squat at the moment!

The gaskets like speedo, oil filter & fuel filter were all purchased separately, about over a quid each.

Also need to get my sump plug helicoiled which I keep forgetting about.. alternator reconditioned as well? radius arms need reconditioning still.. but my subbys need sandblasting & spraying up before that, so that can wait.. hmm.. steering rack needs cleaning up too.. also need to buy the 7.5 disc conversion for the front, which can be done after the subbys are rebuilt.. hilos for the front and back, new shocks for the front too..

But! It's coming together :) & I'm happy with where I'm at.

Nice bit of work done today, so sunny out!

First of all I took the clutch cover off, so I could inspect the condition of the clutch itself, all looks satisfactory, but I'll let you lot be the judge! might upgrade to something a bit more racier.. depends on the price of course.

& wrapped in clingfilm to keep things clean & dirt free.

Then I set about stripping down the front subframe, got quite far but I came to a halt on certain bits, see below..

Posted Image

I can't remove any of this.. I've removed/loosened all nuts & bolts, but nothing budges..

So I gave up on that and decided to clean up the clutch cover.

& my assorted bits in correct boxes, hoping everything will go back together with no missing bits :D yeah right.

That top arm will be under pressure from the rubber doughnut, you'll probably need to compress that before you can punch the pin out of the arm :D.

I'll see if I can borrow a cone compressor.. is there a home brew way to do it? don't fancy forking out 40 odd quid for one if I can't find one to borrow.

Thanks Sazal :w00t: It could be a lot quicker, but considering money it's coming along as fast as I can :w00t: I could cut plenty of corners and tart everything up when she's back on the road, but I don't fancy doing that :) I'm hoping before L2B next year, gives me plenty of time, and I'll be heading to Uni in September, so the student loan will be nice ;)
