Whilst cutting out my rear bins and seat base to install the rear cage i've found more rust! Thankfully the heel board is still solid so not too bad jus need to plate over some holes in front of the arches. Want to have the car actually on the road this spring/summer so i'm going to plate over from inside and treat as best I can underneath and see how it goes!
Got my drivers side cage mounts welded in now...although wasn't sent enough bolts for the cage so need to sort that out! Promised myself i'm not gonna go out this weekend so I can get this sorted (wonder how long that will last!!).
So depending on my social life I should hopefully have the rear sorted and ready to spray by the end of the weekend!!

Yea its dead easy......I found it easier doing a rough cut as close to the floor as poss round the bottom of the bins and the heel board and then grind out the spot welds to remove said lip. Make sure you leave a leading edge on the seat base as this is how the rear of the base attaches to the heel board.
It also takes some structural strength from the shell so you'll need a cage in there to get it back. Unless you're going for a super lightweight mini or need to sort rust in the bins (like me!) I wouldn't bother though as at the end of the day the panel work doesn't weigh all that much!

I'm never going halfords again though after turning up 10 mins before closing time yesterday to buy a new drill bit (hence only one window frame drilled!!) to find it all locked up....well they've lost a regular customer!!
Need to seam seal up all my welds etc then spray inside. Got some rattle cans so gonna take it easy and hopefully get a half decent finish (not like the rest of the cars paint is anywhere near perfect!) Fingers crossed should have the cage in this weekend looking good to be sorted before spring comes and the decent weather starts!

Got the seat base and back sprayed and the cage in and sorted out my seat position nice and low!! Anyways i'll let the pics do the talking!!
Seat cut out and plates welded in:

Seam sealed:

Primer:

Top coat:

Cage and seat bolted in:

Picked up a new front screen from Martin at MRA so now i've got all the glass i need to put it back together!! Need to paint the side window frames cause they've gone a bit rusty under the seals (caught it before it got too major thankfully!) then I can rivet in my placcy windows!
Been doing a bit of retail therapy aswell and bought a set of rear coilovers after adding up the costs of new cones/dampers/hi los etc coilovers seemed like the best option plus got em for a very reasonable price second hand! Going to put it on a bit of a diet aswell so will be getting a rear beam frame in a month or so!
So left to do on the inside is:
Make up passenger seat brackets
Paint all seat brackets
Paint floor
Sent off my L2B application last week aswell so going to aim to have the car at a standard i'm happy with by then!!

Finally got my windscreen in today so it was roadworthy!! Did the last of the painting, looks a bit gash for color match right now but gonna leave it a couple of weeks then give the whole a car a proper T Cut wash and wax.
Took it for a baz round the local roads....forgot the fun of a mini in the dry!! Needs setting up properly...not enough advance atm I reckon, but don't want to wind it up and risk det as i've only got ae pistons in there and been told these are prone to going bang if you get too much pinking under load! So will change the oil check it over for loose bits etc etc and take it over to pete baldwin.
Anyways heres some piccies:
Rear Interior:

Front Interior:

View from the drivers seat:

Whole car:

And finally some new shiny bits to be fitted:
