Ive been knocked back a week or so people with my resto, whilst out for a drive today to put a few miles on my engine and see how she runs, my bonnet has flipped up and creased the corners and took a couple of chunks of paint out of the scuttle....soooo ive been kicking myself for the last few hours at how stupid i am and well annoyed ive gotta pay out for more paint etc etc

All being well it might not take long to fix just see what happens with it.

wow really nice mate. I bought the same pedals as your last week and ordered the same wheels too (in silver) before 2 days. What modifications did you do to fit the wheels?

was that you i saw driving down burnley road today?
i was in the garage taking the engine apart so only saw you for a split second as u drove past.
but that paint!! dark gloomy day and it looked as tho the sun was shining on it.

Hey yeah it was me driving down there, i had just finished work and was on my way home.
The colour looks great in both the sun and in dull weather, it changes so much. In gloomy weather it just looks a really bright orange but in sun it looks more golden.

Whats wrong with your engine?Nothing drastic i hope?

dont know yet lol, in the middle of a full rebuild.
last owner didnt look after it as well as they should have done so theres plenty to do.

i pulled it out to clean it up and give it a lick of paint but thought i might as well replace any bits that need doing whilst its out.
just the basics nothing drastic. not yet anyway, considering getting a few bits machined now.

Right i thought it was about time that i updated this with pics of the damage, been soo busy recently not had time to upload them, what with fitting a new kitchen and everything.

Ive temp replaced the bonnet for a black one till i get myself a replacement and time to get it back to my mates to sort the front end out again.

doesnt look TOO bad mate, what happened anyway? i think ive missed something! haha. i have the same chip that youve got near the wing on mine (fitted the bonnet to far back then open it) lol.

I know it doesnt look too bad but it would always be on my mind and i wouldnt get it in the mag with the bonnet like that so i need to get it sorted.

Basically i was on a test drive after getting it on the road, get some miles on the engine you know, and i hit a big pot hole in the road and 20yards up the road the bonnet flew up so it must of dislodged it hitting that, but previously before that i had just been on the bypass doing, lets just say a bit of spirted driving so that what annoyed me most of all, if anywhere i would of thought it would of gone then.

hay mate where abouts did you buy your paint from?? iv been looking for ages but every company iv asked will not sell little amounts but only sell enough to paint a lorry lol cheers

Wow can't believe its been nearly 2 years since I last updated this, hardly been on here much recently, but the car has had a lot of work done again to it lol, its been in for another repaint, and whilst it was in there it's had a weber box added under the bonnet and whilst the bodywork was being sorted I've made myself a new engine

Done all the maching work to the engine myself. It's now a 1380, with the same stage 4 head on as before but with a wedged crank, Kent 286 cam, lightened flywheel and backplate, all couple to a SC box. Run with an Aldon Yellow dizzy and a Weber DCOE 45

I finanlly finished the dash off, and what a pain that was due to the rollcage, and fitted my stero system.
