For the bolts - if you get zinc plated ones they should be fine. Put plenty of copperslip on, and a few coats of paint on the thread outside the car and they should last fine.

Its been a very busy yet very productive day today, my mate called up at 8.30 this morning when we began to load up his van with anything and everything for the car to be rebuilt. Engine, subframes, glass, seats and so on.
First task of the day was to fit the wiring loom. One of us started on the front section whilst the other 2 worked on the rear. This was soon fitted within 10minutes making the day seem like its going to be an easy one

We then started work on fitting the pedal box along with the clutch and brake master cylinder and the accelerator pedal and brake bias valve on the bulkhead.
Whilst i nipped to the cars parts shop, the front subframe was fitted upto the car and attached, fitting all the new poly bushes and solid rear mounts to the subframe. The brake lines were then approached, making complete new lines from scratch running both them, and the fuel lines through the car in the passengers footwell.
The rear lights were fitted into the car along with all the striker plates and locking mechs for the doors and the handles were fitted also at this time.
By the end of the day we had fitted the engine, the rear subframe with all the brake lines done and rear brake assemblies fitted and all the shocks fitted and the new wheels put on.

The car from the back with lights fitted

All the new wiring to sort out.....

Lovely and clean....just for how long though?

Brake + clutch master cylinder's fitted and piped up and the engine fitted minus a head

Fuel and brake lines running through the car

The spax lowered shocks with all new shocker mounts and CV joints and drive shafts

Front end with wheels fitted, really like how the colout looks in this picture

More updates tomorrow most likely, let me know what you think people

Unfortunantly i havent got any pics from today the phone decided to die on me.
But basicaly ive got the headliner started to be fitted, front winding glass fitted along with the chrome seals, gear linkage fitted, a temp clyinder head fitted till mine arrives, modified the old rear drums on a lathe to clear them up on the inside to get rid of the step and reprofiled the outside. Fully rebuilt the brake callipers with new seals and pistons.

The extra hands do help, but its also helps with everything being brand new, your not searching around for nuts and bolts and missing little pieces as you have (or should have) them all to hand

and i know what you mean about missing parts and bolts!! half my time was looking around either the floor, draws and boxes to find a poxy bolt for the coil bracket!! or in my case all the shims for the door hinges!! AGGHHHH lol

Right well work has been very busy on the car the last couple of days, ive not really had all that much chance to take pics because of this.
The headliner has been fitted completley, just need to fit the rear pillar cards which is proving a task cause of the extra supports on them..All the brake lines, fuel line and battery cable running through the car has been clipped down to the floor of the car. All the wires under the bonnet have been connected up and tidied up using cable tie clips.
We have finished fitting the headlamp bowls, and the headlamps themselves and wired them all up and they are working the front indicators and side reapeaters are fitted and working. All the rear lights are fully wired in and working along with the custom made fog light.
The exhaust is fitted along with the fuel tank and the fuel pump mounted in the spare wheel well.

The engine bay looking slightly a mess at this moment in time....

Engine bay again with custom made ultimate engine steady

Battery, fuel and brake lines clipped down to floor, prior to trimming ties.

One headliner fitted

The view of the rear end of the car
Well got a lot more to do tomorrow hopefully going to make a start on fitting the dash after sorting some of the dash wiring out tonight aswell as the interior and the glass, there is a lot to do still i may be a bit optomistic but its booked in for MOT on saturday so wish me luck

Must be such a good feeling to start putting her back together again, I wouldn't be able to keep myself away from the garage if I was at that stage.
