Right... update.

Done nothing much on the blue'n since fitting the hilos, just been driving it and enjoying it.

But for the past few months now ive been thinking about more power. At first (start of the year) I was going to go down the tuned small bore route, but after thinking that spending £1000's on a small bore to get it to produce the same power as a 1275, I might aswell buy a 1275 to start with, then it's still be drivable at the end of the day and produce good power.

So ive been after a 1275 engine for a couple of months now. Found out a mate was selling one a few weeks ago and so took it off his hands (cheers nick!.)

So what im going to do is, as its out of a metro HLE (originally) im going to fit a mg metro cam and get the head machined to the same spec as an mg and basicaly convert it into a mg metro engine.

But now theres a catch.... I really want to do something with the interior and dont know weather to do the interior or engine first ;), some thinking to do methinks!

Heres a pic of the new lump.

What annoys you the most? The sight of the interior or the lack of power?

I'd do the engine first as the interior is very tidy and in clean condition

Paul. What can I say?
I've just read this through from the beginning and I'm stunned.

I'm also now very, very ashamed at my (lack of) progress on my project mini.
It's projects like this that kick you back into gear... well done sir!

The blue'n is coming off the road for a bit now until mini fair so I can do the interior and also to drop the 1275/1293 (:)) in.

Just ordered a rotary polisher and polish (expensive stuff ) so I can get some light scratches and swirls out the paint.

Interiors going to be a secret of some sort (if I can hold it in) so it will be seen for the first time at mini fair, nothing special but keeps me entertained >_<.

SOunds nice, are you doing something very special with the interior then?

What is the spec of the engine going to be?

Its nothing from the norm with the interior just dont want anyone to see it until mini fair, dont know why, lol.

Engine.... well im not sure where I want to go as of yet, im thinking of doing a basic strip down and rebuild keeping the original bore (for now) or just go straight ahead and bore it to 1293. Im thinking/being drawn into the wonders of turbo power, it gives great numbers with little displacment (in my eyes) but will cross that road when we come to it.

Same as me, I did the 998's low spec 1275, mid spec 1380, and now going turbo. WOuld have been alot cheaper just too jump right too the end. Although it is a good idea too build up the car around it aswell.

Plans sound good, are you entering show and shine at mini fair, yours looks good enough to be competative.

Right, where are we. Done a few bits and bobs to the blue'n the past few weeks (tidy up jobs you can say) and is looking spot on now. Currently left the grille and exhaust backbox off because I removed them to do some jobs and would be pointless replacing them, then taking them off to fit the new engine in.

Managed to get some rs turbo recaros in really good condition which im pleased about, will be getting chris at retro retrims to cover them (got no pics at the mo, even though ive had them a few months now!). Also managed to get a genuine MPI wallnut dash, which is supposed to be in excellent condition but I haven't received it yet.

Main thing now, and the reason why im typing this post is that im going to be stripping down the metro engine tomorrow and sunday (hoepfully be stripped by then). Then I can send stuff out for cleaning and machining.

Final spec? not sure yet, I dont want to go mad on this one, just a nice gutsy 1275. Will be looking over stuff in the next few weeks and make a little list.

So.... thats where I am at the moment, will snap away with the camera over the weekend.

Paul.
