Just got back from what i can only call a boring weekend. Was nice to meet up with people again that we saw at riv run and see all the minis. The camping was alright till we tried getting to sleep and the idiots behind us wanted to play their subs at 1.30am. No marshals about then. Then people were up at 4am to move their cars about. Why do people get in line for their run plaques before it's even open??? Think they'll run out??? Took 4 hours to get down to brighton were we only just got a space by the entrance. Stuck in London traffic for that long isn't my idea of a laugh. Then they brought us in through Brighton. Why not go over the south downs which were ace on the way out and not block up the town center? Was so knackered after only getting 2 hours sleep and the long drive that the show had to do very well to entertain. But didn't. Sorry to go on but this was my first L2B and was really looking forward to it. Next time we'll go straight to brighton. We were just lucky enough to have a place to crash on sunday night as the long drive home would of been dangerous.

:nuke: bleet over. Sorry had to do it

its always a bit long the first year......its only becuase your not used to it.

the first year we went we parked in CP got there about 7ish and didn't leave till like 12-1 got to brighton at 3. you live and learn to adapt, plus also go with fun people not grouchy its also the people that make it not just the show itself.

Yeah we got to sleep (well I did) about 1ish and a little after 4 were woken up by one of our group & told we ought to get the cars moved because they were onto the third line already, so we went and shifted them then had breakfast & packed up the tents. It was a very long day and I couldn't believe that people were lining up as early as the night before! But it was a wicked weekend, had great fun with friends off TMF and saw more Minis than my eyes could handle hehe

I was pre-warned that you get very little sleep at Crystal Palace but it had to be done! I intend to do the same next year :nuke:

yeah, you have to "play the game"

actually, i'm surprised that anybody still goes into crystal palace.

that's one thing they really need to sort out, but then i really don't know how they could make it any better for people :nuke:

It was my first L2B and even though I was not in my mini (blinking little Minx broke down the night before and despite working on her in the middle of the night by torch light we still had to take the ford! ) we had a great time. Picked up our packs @ CP and drove to brighton before the convoy started. Found a parking space and our hotel. Loved all the stalls. My little girl couldn't believe how many little cars there were that looked like mummys ( well she is only 3)
looking forward to doing it properly in the mini next year, at least I have got an idea of what I'm in for!

it was my first year and i loved it! didnt camp over tho but i am planning to next year. still woke up at 3 to make the journey to crystal palace. i was absolutely knackered today and had an exam but im really not bothered. just annoyed i have to wait another year to do it again! :nuke:

i agree it was stupid to go through brighton but if im in the mini im having fun. i just loved being around so many other mini's aswell. yeah it took ages but it didnt occur to me for one second. also did the whole journey with no indicators and my first time on a motorway as ive never needed to before but it was all just part of the mini adventure for me. and even my gf enjoyed it so much shes just joined the forum, and she doesnt have ANY interest in cars of any sort.

i want to do it again...now!

yeah same here i got sleep about 2 (only had a sleeping bag lol no pillow as 3 of us went to crystal palace then there was 5 on the way back from brighton so there was no room for anything lol) then woke up at 4:30 got up and dressed lol, we thought it was 5:30. Took the tent down but couldn't get it back in the bag so that got shoved in the boot, got our car over to the que in the 4th line dad went and got breaky then we waited for about 3ish hours to start the journey to brighton lol all good fun. ooo and got a video of two of the lines leaving got minili's car, pies, wolfy and the others and a little bit of the journey but my phone run out of battery and turnt off lol

i was absolutely knackered today and had an exam but im really not bothered.

haha same i had to be in school for 9:15 for a 1 1/2 hour maths exam lol

Who was that? Bet it was the eejit with the mini van that takes a load of cranking to get it started early in the morning

Because its good fun? If you go expecting to not get much sleep, to have a good time, to have a laugh and a drink with friends and to meet new people then you can't ask for more. I really hope they leave it exactly as it is, I love it.

It was similar out at Imm - them that wanted to be at the front of the line of minis record attempt were up and revving like heck at sparrow fart - no consideration to those of us with severe hangovers :dontgetit:

The last time I did the mini run was back in 2000 with my own mini, where as this year I did with my gf in hers and was amazed at just how big it has got. The year I did it no-one camped apart form some of the dutch nutters that had come over the day before and everyone else turned up in the morning. The one thing that really shocked me as how the route from CP to the top of the M23 hadn't changed, it was a bad run through traffic then and there was less cars on the road!

Thought the actually organisation of the run had got a lot better and they were moving cars out of CP better and there was certainly a lot more down on the drive this year than I was expecting.

We didn't camp but drove up in the morning, mainly because I've done loads of car shows in the past including Southern Mini Days and know exactly what it can be like on the prat-ratio can be, even though its a lot less at the mini shows but you still get some idiots, plus the fact my misses was working on the Saturday and it would been a proper rush to get up to CP.

Will definitely be doing again next year though without a doubt, just wish they would run everyone away from Croydon on the Sunday morning.

well, were avoiding Crystal palace from now on. we thought we'd beat the no sleep bit by staying in a hotel... but we got the "Bin Laden" suite at the Queen's hotel and i ain't never doing that again. The half mile walk from hotel to CP saw us dodging dog poo, drunks, druggies, broken glass etc and that was just to get out of the hotel room!!!!!!! :dontgetit:

Next year, we are booking a hotel in brighton for the saturday and making a relaxing weekend of it with 2 mini's and all of our kids.
