Bought my first mini last week Taxed and tested bought as a running project and my daily commute for the summer months...

P1030639_zps91e4b272.jpg

here she is pretty much as I bought her.

P1030641_zpsec534f5e.jpg

Giving it a quick going over to find the 'Areas on Interest' (really difficult getting my son out of the car!)
P1030642_zps1f8013e0.jpg

Front needs a pull, windscreens rubbers need replacing, 50p piece size rust patch on the doorstep corner, sills need a rubdown and protect, underside needs to be sealed, plate needs to be welded into the bucket for another 10p size hole, some minor rust bubbles need rubbing down here and there and it will be getting a full respray in flame red. oh and new city decals and mini badges.

It drives well enough at the moment, although needs a good service and some minor suspension and brake work, timing is slightly out and the tappets are quite tappy!

Electrics are generally good with only 2 exceptions of the interior light and the hazards not working.

Its pretty much a factory standard city as far as i can tell apart from the new wheels.

after closer inspection of the engine looks like there is some bits that need doing like:

breather hose missing from air filter
vacuum feed to dizzy floating on the rocker
kinked hose on top of rocker
floating heater cable assembly and hoses near air filter

extra wire to replace corroded brake warning light
no ht clips
accelerator cable floating behind rocker

and on the bodywork

hole in the drivers sill
hole in rear drivers pocket storage
patch of rust on bottom of drivers door

may need to learn the ancient art of welding and scrapyarding.

rubbed down the rust on the sill at the weekend and sprayed with zinc paint and red primer it until i can get it welded.

Fitted a new hazard switch to no avail, must be the relay

changed the oil and filled the dashpot

rerouted the choke cable and accelerator cable

checked the rad for brown gunky water and determined that it definitely needs draining.

Also picked  up a new bonnet off of Ash2257 and fitted it today just gotta put the chrome strip on it off my old bonnet but still much nicer than the orange peeled one i had on before...

shame about my wings :)

this weekend going to rub down some rust dinitrol and zinc and prime it, hopefully get window rubbers and fillet + tool delivered so i can do the windscreen.. also going to pick up an oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, ht leads, antifreeze and more oil at the weekend to give a mini service, waiting for some gaskets to be delivered as well, noticed an exhaust smell in the car, think my manifold is leaking so looking at sorting that out in the near future.

decided to drive my wifes car to work for the remainder of the week and its extremely boring :(

filters and plugs done, went to change coolant and the bottom rad hose has welded itself to the rad :( after an hour of grazing my knuckles i stopped due to rain.

got bak out with te wire attachment on the drill and took out my frustration on the surface rust on the rear subframe :D then wrapped the bottom of the car in a tarp skirt to give my self a windless place to partially paint the subframe where i had taken the rust out.
