I’ll be building an 1100 for my mini. Read some good reports on that cam and for the price.

Price is excelent compared to the regular cam suppliers which has my inner sceptic running round in circles.

Any reason for the 1100 as apposed to the more common engine sizes ??

Mostly the fact that I have two in my workshop. Plus 1275 engine are harder to get in Australia. But it is also the original engine size for my mini.

To be honest 1275's are still plentiful over here in the UK but people are starting to want silly money for them. besides I like the 1100's i have one i my clubby estate and it goes and drives beautifully. Part of the reason i'm so eager to finish this project is so I can get into doing a proper restoration job on the estate.

It certainly does!

What black did you go for?

Paul Smith black on the one I did

Nice colour combination.   I'm struggling to find someone to mix tweed grey for me.

It's just a bog standard RAL Black gloss.

I know John ( the chap who painted it for me) wasn't looking forward to doing a gloss black roof.

Apparently the gloss is not as deep as we'd hoped but i still haven't seen it in the flesh. Looks OK i the photo's,  I will let you know.

Any decent automotive paint supplier should be able to mix that colour either by its name or it's code.

When i did a mini in tweed for a customer, I just put the order in and it was mixed and delivered as usual without any questions

Nicnoo, hopefully the lack of high gloss can be remedied with a flat and machine polish.

I had some clear coat last week that I hadn't used before. My usual brand was out of stock.

This new one went on like a sheet of glass. Very impressive results indeed but the next morning, the gloss had dried back and looked dull.

bit of a pain but an hour with the machine polisher and some medium cut compound and it was back to high gloss.

I just find that some products have this issue which is why we all have our favourites I guess

I bet you can't wait to get the car back now and start bolting bits back on.

Cheers

Ben

I agree, I had originally priced up "proper" two pack paint with my local paint suppliers but in the end i just got lazy and ordered off ebay.

Ben, My mate has also suggested mopping to try and bring out the gloss so we'll see how it goes.

You bet i cant wait, neither can my wife, not out of support, just because she's sick and tired of tripping over head lamp bowls and carpet sets.

Need to dig out the loom as i know that is gong to need a little modding to accommodate the new additions plan on putting in and also to repair the damage done by my little rodent friends.

I looked at similar paint on ebay.   But since I plan on painting the car myself I'm a bit hesitant about using 2k paint.   I've had experience with acrylic paint but not 2k.

Nice colour combination, used the same colours on my project. I ended up using 2K paint from Jawel Paints.
